Aaargh . . . I can't sleep!!

Hey, folks! Just curious to see if anyone else who "got" to keep their ovaries is also having issues with insomnia. I know it's more common after ovary removal (due to hormonal imbalances, etc.), but I'm not sure what the deal is with me. I know part of it might be 'cuz I'm not in the "right position" (still sleeping on my back) and part of it is that my sleep patterns are pretty different these days (sleeping in a little in the morning). However, this is really starting to bug me. So, I just popped a melatonin, and am awaiting that to take effect. Anyone else have a similar experience? If you did, how long did it last? Thanks, in advance, for your perspective!!

Aaargh . . . I can't sleep!!

Hello,

I lost my ovaries, don't know where they are any more, I think Doc has them, but, I am having problems getting to sleep before 4 am! Walking in the evenings, even for just 5 minutes, is helping. I have read that people who get to keep their ovaries, have them go to sleep for awhile due to shock of surgery, and should wake up soon!!

Thanks, Naejean! Gotta love that thought: Once my ovaries "wake up," I'll be able to get back to sleep! You know, that may explain why I've been so bloody hot at night too! I am always freezing, but have been roasting at night since coming home from the hospital (summer notwithstanding). Thanks again!

I've been having the same problem! Can't sleep. Even in hospital, always dreaded the night time. It seems that since my op (a week ago today!) I only cat nap now. How frustrating! Before that I could sleep on a pile of rocks. I slept like a log. I was told it has to due with the op, etc.

Aaargh . . . I can't sleep!!

Ohmigosh, Marie, I was the same way and I think that's what's making this even more annoying! I have always been such a sound sleeper that even our dog knows not to waste his time trying to wake me up if he needs to go out at night! What's weird is that I'm not all that sleepy during the day. I'm tired and kind of "draggy" but I haven't taken one daytime nap since my surgery (even in the hospital). Oh well, this too shall pass and if it's my biggest complaint, I guess I'm lucky indeed! Well, I'm off to give it another go . . . take care!

I'm finding that I go off okay but by 3.00am I wake up and usually have trouble getting back to sleep. I kept my ovaries but I think I was starting perimenopause before I had the hyster sooooooo I reckon it's one of the many symptoms of meno!!
