Re: Just found out 5 days ago...
Hello,
Well as istillsmile and Stargs know I was going back to the doctor today to discuss all options and have more test done. Based on what we discussed and all the questions I had answered I have set my operation date for 10/8/2012 at 7:30am, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am (god that is early). Furthermore, I have my pre op set with my doctor on 10/2/2012 at 8:40am. I still have to call the hospital for a pre op appointment. I now have a few question of course after I left such as can I have fake nails on, weight gain when keeping my ovaries, do I take BC pills all the up to the day of operation and oh I forgot the other one. Anyway, I guess I have 3 weeks to get work in order, house up to par, and stuff ready and bought for hospital stay and recovery. One last question, my kids are 13 and 10 and go between me and my ex husband how do I tell them I may not see them for a month cause I can't drive and and they won't bring them or how do I even tell them about the operation and should I tell my ex the details...
All I know is I am glad the military is letting my husband come back home for a week, but the rest of the recovery time (till 4/2013) I will be alone...
Keep me in your thoughts....

Tonya, glad your surgery is set. You will feel so much better once you begin to heal from it. Surgery recovery goes quicker than you think. After that first week and your hubby has to leave you will be ok on your own. If you have any family or good friends close by ASK for help OR accept help from neighbors, friends and family. Don't be ashamed to accept the help or ask for it!
I am not a a nurse or doctor just talking from life experience to answer your questions. No fake nails allowed. In fact no makeup, nail polish on nails or toes, no lotions even morning of surgery. They may even give you a special wash or wipe to use on your body. They will give you all that info during pre op.
As for BC I would say absolutly use BC till your surgery. Like I said I am not a nurse or doctor so I am just using common sense about it. It you will be having intercourse, use protection.
I am sorry you have issues with the ex. Your kids are old enough to understand that you are having an operation. Tell them how much you love them and plan phone calls to them so they can hear your voice and assure them you are ok. Plan something special for the time you do get to see them again. Divorce is difficult. I have been there. Kids are tough and miltary kids know about seperation. They will be ok. Let them how much you love them each and everyday.
One question. Are you keeping your ovaries? - Pam

I completely agree - talk to your kids now about what is going on - you will find that you will need to reassure them that everything will be ok multiple times. As for the ex - wish it were easier for you. I know my ex would do anything I asked (within reason of course) and put the kids first (one thing we have always agreed upon).
Let us know if you have othe rquestions. We are here to support you!
