Hi,
I am new to the site and have been reading lots of the posts over the last few days. Thank you all for such informative and supportive posts!

I have been experiencing years of difficult very heavy periods, with painful intercourse, huge blood clots, 'flooding', and anemia. My doctor finally agreed to send me to a specialist when I had a 'questionable' pap result, and he saw "lesions" on the cervix.

The OB/GYN says that I have pre-cancer (what the heck is that!!). Isn't everything before a diagnosis of cancer pre-cancer? Please forgive my ignorance of the subject... He also believes that I may have endometrial cancer.

My surgery is scheduled for the 25th of February at RMH in Maple Ridge BC. Has anyone been to this hospital for their surgery?

Hi Robin

I am another Canuck but live in Ontario. I just thought I would pop in and say hi. WOW how come your surgery is so far away.

I suggest you go post at the Cancer board. Someone there will be able to help you out.

Good luck and take care

Katie

Pre-cancer means that you have some abnormal cells which "could" turn into cancer.

here is a link that talks about this subject.

As you are new to the site, you might want to take a look at the Pre-Op Hints (click here) and the Post-Op Hints (click here), - they are full of great advice that will help you to prepare for your surgery and recovery.

Please don't be shy to post any questions that you may have - we'll do our best to help.

Hi coffee lover!

I'm a Canadian too, but also from Ontario. Welcome. What a drag that your surgery is so far, the waiting can be the hardest part of it all. I found out last May I needed the surgery and finally had it in September, so I had a LLLOOOOONNNNGGGGG wait too! Try not to think about it too much (I know that can be hard). Ask lots of questions, don't be shy, there are many great ladies here who have all been in your shoes.

Merry Christmas

Thank you

Hi,
Thank you for the responses. It is frustrating to wait - but good that I have time to research and prepare.

Yesterday my son fell and broke his arm which had to be surgically set today. So, we spent the entire day at the hospital. I got to meet a bunch of staff in the OR and recovery rooms. Very nice ladies who were quite encouraging both to Kirkland and to myself.

They assured me that the OB/GYN I have is one of the best in the area (good news). Plus now that I've seen more of the "castle" and how the anesthesia - OR - recovery process works I am more at ease about it all.

Have a Merry Christmas....
