Anyone with adeno and IC? Hoping surgery gets all my pain under control, worried the IC is causing part of the pain)

I am having a Robotic assisted TLH on Tuesday for adenomyosis diagnosed during laparoscopy (enlarged mushy uterus). Really hoping it gets all my pain under control but worried the IC is causing part of the pain, specifically pain during intercourse. I am going to be so upset if this doesn't fix the pain. Anyone else have both these issues?

Hi Jesusluvr41970-

I wish I could answer your questions, but I cannot. We do have lots of women on this site, so hopefully one with experience will see this post and respond. In the meantime, here is an article that may provide information to you:

Re: Anyone with adeno and IC? Hoping surgery gets all my pain under control, worried the IC is causing part of the pain)

Jesusluvr41970, I had adeno, endo, and IC. When I had my hysterectomy I didn't know what was causing my pains. Having the hysterectomy gave me a lot of relief, but my IC did not magically go away. I had to take medication and learn to eat properly to take care of my IC. So no, my hysterectomy did not cure all my problems. But it helped a lot. I still have to deal with occasional IC flares. I don't think anyone here can tell you whether you will be able to have pain-free sex after you heal from your hysterectomy or not. It is a very good question for your doctor and a good reason to get more than one opinion. I hope you find the answers you need.

Thank you for your replies. My doctor feels strongly this will be very beneficial. And my old GYN said same. I am not sure what a flare feels like for IC. I don't have a lot of typical IC Symptoms. I have modified my diet though and I only drink water. I hope the cyclical pain is the adeno and goes away Tuesday! Thanks for your input. It all helps.
