Drinking alcohol?

I was not a big drinker before my surgery but Ienjoyed a drink every now and then. More now, then, then. But anyway I haven't had a drink since my surgery and the funny thing is it turns my stomach to think about having one. It has no meaning to me anymore. It is not a bad thing that I don't want it, just odd. Anyone else notice this? I am saying that to me, to take a drink of alcohol is revolting.It is the strangest thing. I wish I could say the same thing about chocolate!

I too have noticed the same response in my body. It physically makes me ill.

I would have to say that has not happened to me. I've had a couple drinks after my surgery, when I went off the pain meds. Especially when we were watching our favorite team (Steelers) make it to the Super Bowl!!
But I can say that I can't put chocolate down....that could be dangerous on my hips!!

Sounds familiar but i'm happy to report that this feeling has now passed for me. Hurrah!

It hasn't affected me either. Over the holidays & X-mas I had quite a few drinks... & enjoyed every gulp! I

Funny that this post was put up... I am a few days post op and even though I'm not much of a drinker per se' the pain was so horrid, yesterday I had 1 "shot" to see if that would dull it and it didn't even phase me. I know it's not ethical to have it while on pain meds (which I think is a placebo) but can anyone say "desperate!!" I really didn't think I would feel such intense pain, I'm pretty tough and had a TVH which is better for healing but whewwwww, this has kicked my butt. I am a Christian and like I said not a heavy drinker but desperate times calls for desperate measures! Good luck and God Bless girls!!! HUGS!!!

No, it hasn't effected me that way either. As a matter of fact with all the hormonal crap going on, I enjoy a drink much more often than I did before the surgery, it also helps me sleep since I still have terrible insomnia. Had a couple of Margaritas last night, slept like a baby.

I don't seem to be affected where alcohol is concerned, but funny thing is I haven't smoked since my surgery. The 2 days before surgery I forced myself to only have 2 each day to help anesthesia. But since then the smell of it and the thought of it, yuck! Only after they told me they did find cancer did I actually want one, but I resisted and I am still smoke free for 15 days!! I smoked for 18 years!

Good job on the non-smoking Rebecca!! Keep up the good work! I'm just a "social smoker" and only smoke when I drink. I haven't had a smoke in probably 2 months. I didn't smoke close to my surgery because I felt a cold coming on and didn't want that to get worse. I don't plan on smoking anymore but do plan on having drinks here and there.
