My recovery
Hi everyone,
I had my hysterectomy three weeks ago and so far all is well. I had two follow-up visits with my gyn and everything came out well. There was no cancer and I am healing fine. I'll be returning to work this Monday and for what I've been told, I was missed. I am so glad that I found this website because I really needed to know what to expect and I found it nice to hear from women who had been through it as well. I hope you all are doing well and I hope to be in touch soon.

Re: My recovery
Hi Kasey1210,
I am glad to hear that all is well with you, especially with having an abdominal like me. Seems like lots on the site have that DaVinci so I can't really relate. Right now I am 7 days post op so I am still not the best. I still have some pain which I am trying to manage and a lot of swelling.
One thing, I am kinda surprised you are going back to work so early? My dr is keeping me out 8 weeks and I am going to try to beg for 10 But I guess if you are feeling well enough to do that, then go for it

Re: My recovery
Kasey,
I hope you are not planning to go back full time right off the bat, that would seem too much too soon. I had a TVH 9-7-10 and like you I went back to work starting my 4th week, but I only did mornings for 3 days that week.....then just mornings the next week but all 5 days. I remember that first week coming home from work and needing to nap, so please be careful not to over do it.
Take Care,
Chris

Re: My recovery
I had a TAH 10/7 and was back at work part-time before the end of my second week. Now I'm pretty much back to 8-10 hour days. But I have a desk job and work from home. How soon you get back to work, and how many hours, depends on the kind of job you have and your own personal healing progress. I am incredibly fortunate in that I'm healing very, very fast. I still have pain, although nothing like week one. The fatigue and boredom are my biggest enemies.
I honestly think, for me personally, getting back to work quickly is playing a significant role in my fast recovery. But as we all know, recovery is an individual process. Listen to your body and your doctor.

Re: My recovery
Hi everyone, I want to thank you for sharing your comments with me. For what it's worth, I work at a telemarketing center, so it's not strenuous at all. I take the bus to work and that is a twenty-thirty minute walk going to work, and the Dr assured me that I can get back to my normal routine. Besides, I really need the money. I applied for disability and I have yet to hear anything about that. I started feeling better after the second week and I started to do more but I didn't push myself. I'm just about recovered and I'm looking forward to celebrating Halloween tomorrow. I went to a parade earlier this evening and it was nice. My niece and nephew will be trick-or-treating and I'm looking forward to seeing them in their costumes. Again, thank you for getting in touch with me and I hope all is well for you.

Re: My recovery
I had a TAH as well. I am doing fine, much better than I thought. I finally stopped using pain meds a couple of days ago. I really thought that I would be in severe pain during the recovery., but the pain was minimal. I get tired very easily, and my body tells me when to rest.

Re: My recovery
I've gone back to work and so far so good. For what it's worth, the doctor gave me a prescription for pain meds, and I never got it filled. I took Tylenol and that seemed to help. I guess some of us are faster healers than others. I hope that all of you are doing well too. Take care.
