Hello...."This is LONG!!"

Hi everyone. Newbie here.... I've been reading the posts for a week or so, just would like to comment I think the site is wonderful, informative and I'm so glad to have found it!! Anyway, here's my story, I'd sure like to talk to anyone that's been through, or is going through the same. My list of problems are.... Grade 2 -3 uterine prolapse. I have a cystocele, and a small rectocele, also a lovely case of interstitial cystitis..lol. I'm currently on Desogen to control my almost nonstop bleeding, and taking weekly treatments of heparin/saline for the IC. Last but certainly not least, I have some sort of "left adenexal mass" near or on my left ovary and/or tube. I've had two high tech ultrasounds to check it, since being on the pill to see if it was ovarian cysts. No luck,...so combined with all the other problems,....I am facing a TAH possibly removing the ovaries, depending on what he finds.... also the Burch procedure to fix my leaks...lol.. whoops...forgot to mention, my front vaginal wall has come down too, so basically total reconstruction. I am thrilled that I found a specialist in this field, not just a regular GYN...I love my doc! So far he is wonderful, and answers all my questions. His plan is surgery the third week of Feb. off work 6 weeks, and absolutely no stretching, pushing, NO lifting anything heavier than the telephone receiver for 3 full months. He said this is NOT like a normal hyst, where you are feeling ok and kinda back to normal in 6 weeks or so. The pelvic reconst. surgery takes a LONG time to heal correctly and any type of lifting..etc, will damage it. Ok, here's my dilemma. I just started a new position at my job, (family practice----same corporation, different office), during all my testing and diagnosis... I was promoted to office manager at a new family practice. We just moved in 3 weeks ago. Within the next month we are going to a half-million dollar deal, changing regular paper patient charts to computerized charting. VERY BIG DEAL. So, I'm kind of stressing about that. Also, I went from co-worker to supervisor, and am working on establishing a new relationship with the girls, not to mention the doctor. She (doc I work for) is very cool....says don't worry about it....do what I need to... but I am worried. Home issues are...my hubby is a long distance truckdriver. He is gone all week long. I have 3 kids, 14, 9 and 8 that need to be taken to school........taken care of period. My parents both work full time. I worry that I would be a huge burden on whoever I ask to help. Plus I don't want to put undue responsiblilities on my 14 yr.old.son . On the upside, if I get this done next month,....I'll be almost totally recovered by summer, and can enjoy it. On the other hand, I've thought about trying to put it off till the kids are out of school. I wouldn't have to depend on anyone for school transportation, wouldn't have to worry about making sure they had ultra neat, ironed clothes...LOL. Or that they had Froot Loops for supper and fell asleep in front of the TV one night....LOL. Also a plus, I wouldn't have to pay the daycare for the younger ones, since I'd be off work. Downside.....I don't know how much rest I could get with all three of them home all day, in the hot summer, and not really being able to go anywhere for almost a month. My doc is ADAMANT about the 3 months, and with them home.....whew.....I don't know.... Lastly, on the downside.... my husband and I have a big touring Harley Davidson and we love to spend weekends on it in the summer. Well, the surgery would knock me out of that too, and how crabby would I be watching him take off for a ride? And how unfair would it be to gripe every time he wanted to? LOL....and I KNOW I will. Ok, as it stands right now, doc says I can wait if I have another transvag ultrasound in 8 weeks to check that mass. ( they THINK it just may be a very badly damaged tube). If it's the same size, I can wait till school's out, ...if it's grown, have to do it right away. I would just really like some objective opinions....has anyone went through this with a traveling spouse? Any comments on the do it now/wait till summer? Anyone else have total pelvic floor repair? Anyone else see a Urogynecologist instead of a gyn? Feel free to email me and thanks ahead of time. Lisanne34@aol.com

Welcome...I'm so glad you found us! Sounds like you have a great doctor, and the big issue of whether to wait for summer or not may be moot when you find out more about what's going on in there.

Your kids are big enough to help you with some of the details at home, so that's great. If they aren't in perfect shape for school, no one will care, so don't stress about that stuff. Maybe some of the other school parents can help you out with transportation...or neighbors, etc.

If it were me, I'd opt for sooner rather than later...get it over with and by summer you'll be feeling like YOU again. Talk it over with your doctor and your husband...maybe he can plan his hauls to be around a bit more during the first couple of weeks too.
