pain after catheter removal

I had a TVH and TVT and perioplasty on 11/6. My bladder was nicked and as a result I had to keep the catheter in for 6 days. It ws taken out yesterday 11/12 and I came home and was able to pee. It wasn't a whole lot but I haven't benn drinking a whole lot. I wondered the rest of the day if my bladder was emptying all the way. I had to strain a little to go, but I never felt a great urge to go. However when I got up in the middle of the night to go, I had to strain to get it all out and I felt a throbbing pain. No burning just throbbing pain kinda in the area where your urethra is. I took a good hour for the pain to subside. When I woke up in the morning same thing. I am terrified I will have to get catheter back in. Or is this normal for the first few days? Thanks

Re: pain after catheter removal

I look forward to seeing answers to your question. I had my hysterectomy on 11/9 and my bladder was attached to my uterus so they had to detach it and sew it up. I came home with a catheter and I'm stressing about it. There was blood in it yesterday and little pieces of body tissue. And the worst thing is the gas pains. I know it's only been 6 days and I should be patient but I totally didn't expect this. A catheter and gas pains were not on the menu. I just sneezed a minute ago and thought I would die!
Glad to know you are out there and that I'm not alone.

Re: pain after catheter removal

Hi.. my bladder was also cut and was sent home with the catherter for 10 days...It felt a little wierd the first few days after it was out but now I feel totally fine....I guess people sometimes get a urinary tract infection with the catherter so if it still bothers you I would call, maybe you might have a uti..
