I'm having second thoughts

Today was supposed to be the big day but because of snow it was canceled when I wasn't able to make it to my pre-op. Now I'm second guessing myself. The pain is still there. But no periods. They (the docs) don't know why I'm not having them anymore. I have fibroids in my uterus. A cyst on my left overie. And now I'm second guessing my decision to have it all taken care of. Am I just going through the same thing that I went through two weeks ago? Being scared of the unknown. Also when I was having my periods they would hurt like nothing else the pain was disabling. I don't know if my periods will ever start up again. But with this surgery they won't. At least that's what I was told. I don't know I guess I'm just scared again. Now my surgery date isn't until the 25th.

Re: I'm having second thoughts

Im just 5 day's before you we can heal together. I have been second guessing myself the entire time since I first scheduled the surgery. It is not an easy decision to make. I finally made up a list of the pro's and cons of surgery and any other options for treatment. After seeing it infront of me on paper, I was convinced that surgery really is my best option. I do not want to have to go through multiple procedures or wait only to have the surgery later on anyway. It is a very personal decision and a very important one. Make up your list of pros and cons and see where that takes you...

Hugs...

Re: I'm having second thoughts

Hi mythiccrystal

I went through the same thing. I second-guessed my decision for a couple months, mostly because I was scared. I would have periods of time when the pain was more bearable, and that was when I wondered what I was doing.

You can always cancel or postpone the surgery if you aren't completely sure that it's right--even after you get to the hospital and have IV's inserted. But once you have the surgery, there's no going back.

What finally convinced me that I was right to go forward was the extreme pain I was in a couple days before my surgery. Afterward, I discovered that healing pain was so much more tolerable than debilitating pain.

If you have any doubts, you can still change your mind now. But know that second-guessing yourself is a pretty normal thing at this point, too.

I hope you come to some peace of mind soon, and I'm sending big hugs

Re: I'm having second thoughts

Hi Mythic crystal,

My surgery is scheduled for Jan. 25. I am also second guessing my decision. I made this decision with my doctor in November and I could swear the pain seemed to be less in the months of Dec. and Jan. that just went off and the cycles only lasted about 8 days, which is a short period for me. I'm usually 9 to 13 days: have gone up to 17 days and the pain was almost unbearable. I also have fibroids and now I'm wondering if things may have changed since the days and pain is less now. What if I cancel and next month I'm going through the same thing again. This is confusing and I gusess I'm just nervous. If anyone knows of a case where these things changed without surgery I'd like to hear about it.

Re: I'm having second thoughts

It is a personal decision and not an easy one. I also had second thoughts the wknd before and was looking for a "sign" that I was making the right or wrong decision. Just keep in my mind, that whatever is causing your issues, will not heal by itself...it will need treatment. And remember that you and your doc came to this decision for a reason. If you are truly having doubts, call your doctor...mine was wonderful in talking to me and reassuring me of the decision we had come to together.

Re: I'm having second thoughts

I also second guessed myself. I also had problems, but the month before they 'magically' stopped. Nothing had changed, but all the pain had stopped. After much thought and careful prayer, I went through with it. The surgeon had said after she had seen only one case worse than mine.

It has been two weeks since I had the surgery and I feel great, and I have no regrets now.

The waiting is the worst, but whatever you decide it will be the right choice for you!!!

Sending the power of prayer~~~33living

Re: I'm having second thoughts

Thanks so much for your responses. It is good to know that this happens to others. I will go through with my surgery because I'm tired. Tired of being tiredTired of having no energy. Tired of having the pain. Tired of having a period sometimes half the month and some months I've had two periods in one month. both lasting 9 to 13 days. That left barley any time to free of it. I pray I'm making the right decision. Of course I prayed before I made the decision also. I think I'm just feeling the pressure because time is going by so fast. I have less than two weeks and it seems like yesterday we were discussing this procedure. Thanks for your support and prayers. I don't have a spouse but my daugter is very supportive. My sons just don't really know what's happening I don't think. I have told them I'm having a hysterl. I'm not sure they understand being youg men. I'm sorry, got off topic. Thanks ladies.
