Post-myomectomy questions

This applies to anyone with experience regarding these matters. 3 months ago I had a hysteroscopic myomectomy for a 2cm fibroid. They also did a D&C. After the surgery I could definitely feel (pinpoint the exact spot) the achey, pinchy pain where the excision took place. My periods are nice regular since then... and pretty much pain free which is like night and day compared to before (had been suffering for years with heavy, ridiculously horrific cramps and painful periods...) which was a welcome relief. What initially brought me to the gyno was the appearance of midcycle spotting which was not normal for me. (Dealt with it for around 8 months before deciding it probobly wasn't normal....) I was also having a funky smelling thick discharge OFTEN. It wasn't BV, it wasn't Yeast. Have had both of those and knew the difference... When I learned about the possibility that I could have fibroids I questioned the Dr. about the discharge and she acknowlaged it as part of the spectrum of symptoms. Didn't explain why it happens but didn't aeem surprised. Anyway. I have been doing great for this past three moths. Had no spotting, great periods. On time. No pain. No funky discharge. Until this week. It all started at 10 days before next expected period. for the past week (mind you, I REALLY have been over doing it at work with the heavy lifting and working like a bull out in the hot sun, on my feet for 9 hours a day at least... Pulling the hose to water the entire nursery in the 90 degree weather... And that's just a brief description...) so I have been feeling the collective exhaustion of my job taking it's effects on me.. I can't tell how much of it has to do
with that and how much is legitimately the initial issues maybe resurfacing. The stitch-like pain in the left side of my uterus is now constant. I noticed it after the day that I worked so heavily that I said to myself .."uh oh, I think I overdid it". The very next morning... When I got up to pee... The dreaded pink toilet paper. So I said hmmm. Could my period be this early? (10 days early?) I knew better than that. Didn't have any other spotting for the rest of the day. Good. Next morning. Got up to pee... The dreaded pink toilet paper. Again. ****. Once again.. That was it.. No other spotting for the rest of the day. Maybe some lightly tinged tp... Under great scrutiny. But one can only squint at every whipe for so long without driving yourself crazy.. The next morning.... Nothing. So I thought.. "Ok good maybe that was from overdoing the physical labor..." Like a fluke? Crossed my fingers. Worked really hard again that day. (I always work like a bull). The stitch-like pain, localized to the EXACT spot of fibroid removal remained constant through this time period. This morning. The dreaded pink toilet paper. OMG. I am still 4 days out till my period is supposed to be here. And what's another insult to injury? I had a bit of the all too familiar funky discharge today. no where near the amount like I had pre-surg but still. There is no mistaking that smell that is like a faint smelly feet. Sigh. I guess what I want to know is ... Does anyone think this could be related to my way over doing the physical stress at work? Or am I just telling myself that to explain away the pain in the left of my uterus, the past few days of occasional pink TP... And the return of the godforsaken funk? I have submit to the fact that myomectomy isn't necesarily a cure to all symptoms. But I guess I'm worried I may have injured myself? Detered my healing? Just plain losing hope. The struggle is real. And im getting really bummed. Any convo is appreciated. I can find nothing on the web about this. 3 months, post hysteroscopic myomectomy, spotting, discharge, pain. Symptoms basically returning?
Thanks girls

Re: Post-myomectomy questions

Hi Deebop, I don't have an answer except I'm having similar symptoms. Also three months out from hysteroscopy, myomectomy and ablation. This cycle started with the pink "spotting" for a couple days, then three days of light flow and four more days of pink. Not sure how long it will continue.

While I'm frustrated and questioning too, I am still 98% in a better situation than pretreatment. I am also trying to stay positive since I was told it could take six months for things to settle in and my next checkup isn't until October.

Hi there! Thanks so much for your reply. Nice to know people are out there thinking and going through these things "together". You know... Since I posted this, I have been doing more reading on my symptoms and can't help but wonder if this could be related to poly cystic ovaries. The light spotting I have started midcycle and correlates to quite an uncomfortable, constant pain in my left pelvic area. I had assumed it was the post op spot (and maybe it is?) but now im wondering if that isn't more where my ovary is located. I was told after this ordeal, and after labs that I am mildly pcos. (Hormones out of whack, chin hairs, hairline slightly thinning). Though I never had (to my awareness) noticeable cyst symptoms... I suppose that is a possibility!? I'm almost relieved to know there could be another, albeit also stressful, explanation just because Id like to believe the **** fibroid will leave me alone. Either way, I've resolved myself to more water, less caffeine, less meat, dairy, cheese, sweets (within reason!) and using appropriate suppliments. Inositol, omegas, vitamin e, and ground flax. Gonna try to cut out chips and things with soy. I guess that these measures are wise for either condition? And in general for anyone who cares about their health. Lets keep in touch, shall we? Seems like we are in the same boat. I'm 38 by the way... If I hadn't mentioned that. Never had kids and still toying with the idea. Now that the possibility might be at risk, it's making me say "hey!? Wait a minute?" I know it's late in my life but I was super slow to grow up. :/ oh well!
Again thanks for your response! Get well soon!

Re: Post-myomectomy questions

Greenfield!? I lived in Northfield for high school. Such a gorgeous area.

I remember having that weird pain around that time of the healing. I wonder if it is scar tissue developing or just healing pains, but it is common. I think I came on here and asked, or looked to see if others posted about it.

I feel like full healing and balancing of the body takes about 6-7 months.I started swimming about 6-8 weeks ago and those movements and strengthening seems to be helping all the layers of abdominal muscles like nothing else has, even pilates, since the surgery.

Re: Post-myomectomy questions

Hi there, ARoggen! Thanks for your response.. I personally had a vaginal hysteroscopy for the removal of the pedunculated fibroid so there was no healing of the abdominal layers involved... Just the uterus itself. But I agree with you it takes longer than the doctors tell you, regardless of how it's done. The pain and spotting was enough to worry me throughout my vacation a few weeks back (sigh! Isn't that always the way?) so I made the decision to see my SUPER nice Gyno, Dr Polanski as soon as I got home. Being that we weren't sure if it could somehow be an ovarian cyst she sent me for an ultrasound which is what I wanted so that made me glad... And while the waiting for results was stressful, it turned out that my ovaries are both normal! How wonderful! I had fully talked myself into accepting that there was going to be SOMETHING causing the pain, whether it was a simple cyst or something more ominous. So when they called to tell me it was normal I was shocked! Lol. Anyway that put me right back at square one. Questioning whether I had just overdone it and agitated the surgical site... Enough to bleed a bit. My period following that episode was on time and normal flow. Thank goodness. And so far so good this month. No spotting. Just a tiny bit of pink when I whiped after sex. Getting older isn't fun is it? The moral of the story is that even though the doctor didn't think it was the surgical site acting up, only I KNOW how much heavy stuff I had been lifting the day before it started. Only I KNOW the very location of the identical pain post surg. So regardless of the fact that she assumed it wasn't, I know it was exactly what I suspected. Just odd timing is all, considering Id been working hard all summer without incedent. I still think she is a great doc, and thorough! She listens well and for that I LOVE HER! Again, thanks for your reply and I hope all is well and healing fast for you!
