1st lupron shot today
Had my first lupron shot today-came home and couldnt stay awake-so i fall asleep- i had very vivid dreams and was crying in my sleep-woke up crying.(that never happnes to me) The dr said it should take 3 weeks to start feeling the effects. When did any of you guys start getting hot flashes/symptoms from the shots? As im sitting here im hot and my face feels hot-im usually freezing all the time. Also do if the shot doesnt help much in the first month do they recommend continuing it?? I tried depo provera years ago for birth control and that was a nightmare.
thanks

1st lupron shot today
Shannon,
I am not sure about the Lupron as I opted not to try that. Here is a link to an Adenomyosis site that is pretty good. I know that there are women there that have experience with the Lupron. There are others here too, but there is a section on delphi that is specifically for the women trying Lupron to post on. Lupron Pros and Cons is the title of that forum. Hope this helps!

Shannon
Hi Shannon,
I just received my third monthly shot of Lupron last Friday. I am suffering from extreme fatigue with this medication.
It took about 2-3 weeks before I really felt the Lupron kick in. I knew it was working because I did not get a period and for once in so many years, I had no pain.
I could not have been more excited. At my first monthly checkup the only things I had to report to my Dr was the fatigue and some short term memory issues.
During my second month, I had horrible pain for 8 days in a row and had to stay home from work during all that time. I was very upset by this since the first month went so well. I must say that although I had 8 days of pain, that's much better than the 21 days of pain I had been having prior to the Lupron. During the second month I also started to experience some night sweats and hot flashes but they were not that bad. So now I have night sweats, hot flashes, memory loss or fog, fatigue. I did also have one day with a severe migraine that my Dr thinks is related to the Lupron.
I am taking the Lupron alone without add-backs of hormones. If your symptoms become unbearable, you need to talk to your Dr about add-backs.
All in all I feel better for more days of the month while on the Lupron. I have just started month 3 so ask me again in another month.
Good luck to you and if you have any other questions, please let me know.

HI PENNY
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I FEEL GOOD ON THE LUPRON EXCEPT FOR A HORRENDOUS MIGRANE HEADACHE. I HAVE BEEN PAIN FREE FOR 3 DAYS BUT THE HEADACHE IS HERE-THE DR SAID IT IS DEFINETELY THE LUPON-BUT THAT MEANS ITS WORKING-MY BODY IS SHUTTING DOWN. . I AM TAKING CATAFLAM TO SLOW DOWN MY BLEEDING SO I CANNOT TAKE PAIN MEDS WITH IT AND DETROL FOR MY BLADDER. AS SOON AS THE FLASHES START THE DR WILL PUT ME ON SOMETHING FOR THAT. I AM WATING FOR THE DR TO CALL-SHE HAD SAID IF THE HEADACHE DIDNT GO AWAY AFTER TAKING THE CATAFLAM TO CALL AND SHED PRESCRIBE SOMETHING. THE BAD HEADACHE IS MUCH BETTER THAN MY USUAL PAIN. I WILL DEFINETELY TALK TO YOU AGAIN-KEEP ME POSTED ON HOW YOU ARE DOING. I HAVE A TERRIBLE MEMORY SO I DONT KNOW IF ID KNOW IF IT WERE THE LUPRON OR ME-LOL. TAKE CARE

1st lupron shot today
You should not have to take the Cataflam long as your bleeding should stop pretty soon-not soon enough, huh??? LOL I must say that I don't miss my period one little tiny bit!!!!
I hope your migraine goes away soon. My Dr won't give me any meds to help with pain. He doesn't want me on vicodin when the pain is there...but the vicodin doesn't even touch the pain anymore so I am not arguing with him.
I'll let you know how I'm doing and you do the same ok? My Dr is talking about keeping me on the Lupron for 6 mos. but we review it monthly. Afterwards, he said we can try BCP's again-ughhh!!!! I was in incredible pain with those or we will go for the hysterectomy. Dr would like me to tone up my abs and loss some more weight prior to hyster.... ...Then I will be off to the castle to be a
Talk to you soon!
