Hospital bills!

For surgery and two nights in the castle, my hospital bill was just under $9000, anesthesia was $1050, and I think pathology was around $200. I haven't seen a bill from the surgeon yet. I have already met most of my $1500 deductible, so am left meeting the rest of my deductible, plus 10% of the remainder of my bill(s). I don't like the high deductible, but I can't complain too much about they way my insurance company has paid on the rest of the bills. This has been a very expensive year!!

Hospital bills!

Thank you all for your support. I refered this to my HR department and they are working on fighting this with the insurance company. I was only expecting to pay between $1000 and $1400. When I get the bill I was very upset. Our HMO system needs to be seriously reevaluated. I will let you know what the final outcome is.

Hospital bills!

First: luvmyk9, I am glad your HR dept is helping. Don't stop pestering them till you get the answer you want, need and deserve!!!!!!!!

Second: The cost for my hospital stay was $80,000, that was 14 days in a private room, the surgery, 3 CT Scans, a PIC Line, 2 sets of chest x-rays, an ER visit, 2 ultrasounds mega doses of anti-biotics and multiple blood draws (and that's just what I can remember) this did not include anesthesiologist, surgeon, ER trip that started this whole roller coaster, the services of the head of infectious disease control, nor the multiple Doctor's I am currently seeing to help deal with some of the long term side effects, which brings the bills to over $100,000.

Luckily I have insurance and so far have to pay around $4,000.

Hospital bills!

wow I don't know where you ladies live but thats a lot of money. As I said before my total bill with ob, lab tests, hospital and check ups was 18,000. You should definately fight the bills and seek help though the state. My mother was trying to get approved for disability for years, she finally contacted the state senator's office and within a month she was approved. There are was to get heard. We women have these surgeries because of painful conditions, and for life threating conditions, just like those with cancer(s), even for cancer. Uh I am upset at the way we are looked at. Its like people think we wanted this to happen to us or something. I hope you can find something or someone to help you.

Hospital bills!

Since I wrote about the high hospital bills now I am getting the surgeons bills too!!

I had two procedures done....the hyster and the bladder sling. The urologist charges were $1700. Insurance paid $1055 leaving me with $645.00...which I still consider pretty steep.

However, I did get a bill from the assistant surgeon who did the hyster and insurance paid a great deal of that. I owe under $60. The bill was $652.

So I guess now I'll be looking forward (not) from a bill from the head surgeon!

This HAS been an expensive year for me. I had other bills such as blood tests, hospital charges, mammograms....ugh!

Maybe this is the year that I will be able to itemize my taxes and actually get something back. I can only hope!

Hospital bills!

I just got the informational bill from the hospital and it was just under $24,000 . It listed all of the services and a semi private room but mine was private. Don't know about my "share" yet, but I met my deductible this year with an Endometrial Ablation (which obviously didn't work). Hope it should be minimal, if anything.

Hospital bills!

Hi, Sunny!
Happy 5 weeks! How are you feeling? I've been feeling a huge difference in just the past week - stronger, able to do more. I still feel the pressure pain when sitting, and getting from sitting to standing. I also feel it if I stand for too long.
I can finally sleep on my side for a while, with a pillow supporting my belly. I'm not sleeping well, even with lunesta, and that's catching up to me.
I'm grateful I've been given 8 weeks to recover- there's no way I could go back to work now and sit all day.
Let me know how you are doing!

Blessings...

Joanne

Hospital bills!

I haven't been as tired as previous weeks. I have been walking further than and up to regular speed as well. But my regular jeans still have that tight feeling. I like to lounge around the house with my warmups they still are comfy.

My tummy pillow still stays with me at night. Whenever I feel a twinge in that area I have my pillow right there. It is sure great to sleep on my side but I like sleeping on my back most of the time.

I have my next appointment next week (6 weeks)...can't believe it has been that long ago!!

Hope things are going okay with you Joanne...

Have you gotten any bills from the hospital and surgeons yet? That's a royal pain looking at those!!

Hospital bills!

Sunny,
Glad you are doing so well! Wow - I'm not walking my usual speed yet, and my tummy still feels swollen and sore if the clothes are too tight.

I got a statement from the hospital - $47, 718! I don't know if the doctors are included in that, but thankfully my insurance is 100%, so I'm pretty sure we won't owe anything. That is a huge blessing!

I'm worrying that I didn't do enough walking and maybe the uncomfortable "bulk" I feel in my tummy is scar tissue. (?) I hope not!

Good luck at your appointment next week - sounds like you're recovering really well.

Blessings to you....

Joanne
