I'm back home & recovering

Hi,

I just wanted to let you all know that my surgery went well & to thank everyone who held my hand while I was waiting for surgery.

My surgery was at 11am on September 12th. By 12:30, I was awake in recovery, pressing the morphine pump. (I rated the pain at 7 when I first woke up.) A Climara patch was placed on my thigh in recovery. I was moved into a room about 3pm.

Pain management was very good. I had the morphine mump & Torodol for the first day. After the IV was removed, I was given Darvocet.

I was in the hospital for almost exactly 48 hours. DH arrived to pick me up with the back seat full of pillows (!!) & the ride home was short & comfortable.

The first few days at home were tough. I tried to stop taking the Darvocet & use only Advil right away & this was a mistake. Once I started taking the Darvocet again, I was able to rest/sleep. (I was exhausted having not slept much the night before surgery, Sept. 11, or at the hospital, or the first few nights at home.)

I was given a prescription for Vivelle Dot when I left the hospital & switched over to that yesterday morning. So far, so good.

Today is Day 8 post op & I am feeling so much better that I tried coming downstairs (where the computer is) and it was no problem at all. It's great to be able to visit this great website again!

Thank you for sharing how your surgery went. The information is really helpful. I have a bed upstairs in my home, but we are going to buy a little roll-away bed so I can sleep on that until I'm able to walk up the stairs. That stair thing was really bothering me, but I'm so glad you mentioned it. I hope your recovery continues to get better and better!

So glad you're home and doing well!
Keep up the good work.

I love how the first place we drag ourselves to is the computer!
