Increased Libido

I thought there was something wrong with me! I just had surgery and here I was thinking about sex all the time. My husband is enjoying it though! I guess that one little ovary is working double time!

I'm almost at my one year mark. I kept both of my ovaries. I'm 39 years old and I noticed an elevation in my sex drive a couple of years ago. But since my surgery, it's even more. Like Lilywhiteflower, I too have experienced much stronger orgasms since my surgery. Sometimes so strong it's scary. It seems like the more I have sex the more I want it.

I think it's a combination of not having to worry about periods or birth control, plus the fact that we're feeling better that has us pumped up. I know one thing - I'm having a ball. WooHoo!!!!

Oh WOW here I thought it was just me too- I have always had a very healthy *appetite* but its some more now... & like a couple of you the 'O''s are even stronger & leave me wanting even more..... & the sex its self was even on the painful side from the A&P repairs I also had done.... how crazy is that?!? My DH was also thinking I was out to kill him :-) (he was only home 2 1/2 weeks- & now is gone again- over seas with the military)

An explanation of a surge in libido in the early post-op weeks is explained in the Post-Op Sex Checkpoint:

If you kept your ovaries, libido may depend on how well the ovaries are working. If you had your ovaries removed, you could have stored hormones in your tissues until they are played out. After that, your hormone therapy will have much to do with your libido. It is a very nice surprise, especially if libido had been lacking pre-hyst, but don’t be surprised if it fades as quickly as it came.

I felt a definite increase in mine when I was recovering. I even had a few big O's during dreams! They were intense! The feeding the fibroids makes so much sense. I did have a measurable dip when they were getting really big. Wow, why didn't a doc say that to me? My issues with Hubby have kept me from not wanting to have sex with HIM, not not wanting sex at all. Am working through a lot of stuff. We did have sex finally for the first time and it was good. Could be better, but I think it is more mental and emotional than physical. I look forward to it getting better.
