Re: Anyone else feel like kid's and husband are against you?

I can almost feel your pain hon. We also have a combined family. We have together a little girl who is almost 6, I have two step sons 16 and 14. Then I have a 20 year old from a previous marriage. I am a very strict parent and my husband is more of the laid back. So combining those two styles takes a lot of work. When I want things done a certain way, it drives me completely batty for some reason when they are done differently. What has helped since surgery is not just a chore sheet. But considering teenagers have the mind span of a two year old I wrote out exactly how to do things. It has helped a lot. Like the kitchen, I actually wrote down how to clean the sink out instead of just clean the sink. Oh and one thing my husband did was put a time limit on things. If things are not done in a reasonable time they would lose something. Teens these days hate to be without there music and for girls maybe it could be her makeup. Stick to your guns but also remember to pick your battles as well.

Hope your feeling better soon and know you are not alone. HUGGGSSS

Re: Anyone else feel like kid's and husband are against you?

I have had some issues with my family and I figured I would! The problem is that us mom's tend to be superwomen! They expect us to take care of them and even when we are sick, they figure we will still do it! Surgery is not the same as having a bad cold. This was my first surgery and I think it has been really hard for my family to see their "rock" down for the count! I can't even remember a time I was in bed for more than a day or two with a flu since I have been a mom.
For me the first week was OK since my mom was here to help and she filled my role in the house. She would give them a lecture if they even acted nasty towards me. BUT, she has gone home now and I am feeling better SO in my kid's minds...mom's back! This was a source of depression for me at the beginning of the week.

Since it is summer break...my kids feel that I should be taking them places and entertaining them when maybe I just feel like sitting and reading. It's been hard but I am trying to stand my ground and take a nap if I need one and I am sure to tell them when I hurt or when I am super tired (they HAVE to remember that I am still healing...if I don't tell them, how will they know?). Good luck to you and know that many of us are in the same boat or at least on the same lake!
