2.5 months post hysterectomy: bladder pressure, cramping and surgery concerns

Hi Everyone,

I had a abdominal hysterectomy 3/25 and I have been having bladder issues in the last 2 weeks. I am having bladder cramping/pressure and when done I have to go again. Is this normal. I have returned to normal activity on everything else. Another thing that has me concerned is I received a bill from a dr stating he helped during my surgery and he is a urologist. Is that normal or could I have had a problem that nobody told me about? I am planning to contact the dr but wondering if anyone else has had either of these .. thanks, Jill

My bladder has been really cranky since my hysterectomy 10 wks ago and I feel like it's prolapsed a bit as all the symp match up. I'm not saying this is what's happened to you but best to get checked to be sure.

If there were bladder concerns prior to surgery your Dr may have called him in? I'm sure he would have discussed 'any' issues with you during post op!

Well apparently my bladder hasn't prolapsed thankfully. Dr says the bladder is still settling and it just takes time, really want to believe him but still have a niggling doubt in the back of my mind about a cystocele. He said he definitely can't feel one, so will just have to give it more time I guess.

Did you get a copy of your surgical report? If anything was done by a urologist it should be in the report. Have you been checked for a UTI?

Yes, urine sample showed leukocytes so was treated for a uti just in case. Things have eased a bit this week so hopefully it's beginning to settle.
