incision

Hey Sisters,
I was just needing a little help...again..lol. My incisionFrom my TAH) is starting to bother me. It is about 15 inches long and has dissolvable stitches. The problem is that the clothing I wear, which is mainly pj's is starting to rub against it and causing it to become sore.My dr. told me to keep it uncovered so I was wondering if you had any ideas about a different type of clothing I could wear. My surgery was Dec5th. and I am not really having any major pain just a little soreness. Thanks again.

I wore an old granny nylon gown.....not cotton or flannel. You can find them in the old lady lingerie section at Walmart. My mom loaned it to me. It worked great!

That is true. I used some of the nightgowns, and they were long enough to keep my children from being scarred for life, but very airy. If you have to go out in public......take a pair sweat pants you may have and cut the front down the seem. This with a large t-shirt will help conceal the tummy, while at the same time, giving the appearance you are dressed. It also puts no pressure on the incision. I also bought the thin elastic waist pants. Either of them never rubed my scar.

Boxer Shorts

I wore my son's SOFT boxer shorts for the first week. (He has no idea!) Today is my 18 day post-op, TAH/BSO. My drainage has finally stopped. I'm still wearing nightgowns. My insicion is very sore and red, by the end of the day I look pregnant. When I start swelling I "strip" off my underwear!
