Too many bowel movements?

Sorry girls, bit of an indelicate subject - I am 13 days post-op (TAH) and find that I am having a bowel movement about every 2 or 3 hours or whenever I get up and move about. I don't actual do much (a bit like sheeps poo) (can you tell I'm from Australia?) so I think I may be a bit constipated but the feeling of frequency is driving me crazy -also I think causing some pain due to the constant straining. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm reluctant to take any anti-constipation medications as I seem to be particularly sensitive to them and don't want to end up with violent bowel motions. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Too many bowel movements?

I also had and have that problem. 1st thing in the morning and then all day. Mine (TMI sorry) are like rabbit pellets and sometimes I have mucus. I am trying a probiotic I heard that might help. Good luck.

Re: Too many bowel movements?

My Dr. strongly recommended a stool softener and milk of magnesia. I was too scared to try the m.o.m. because laxatives tend to give me HORRIBLE cramps, even though she said m.o.m. wouldn't. The stool softeners seemed to help a little.

Re: Too many bowel movements?

As soon as I started tapering off my pain meds, I was in the bathroom almost constantly. For me, it was a relief, as I had been constipated and felt like I was "full of sh..". After two days of that, I am somewhat back to my normal schedule. I did end up with a hemorroid, which is not fun.

Re: Too many bowel movements?

Drink lots of water and take probiotics, they seem to be kinder to my system than laxatives. Eventually it will normalize out.....frequent poo is better than no poo in my humble opinion.
