Oh, my back.....my stomach and my back!

Here I am 4 weeks post-op as of Wednesday and my lower back and the right side of my stomach wants to hurt! Anything I can do for my stomach pain......think I am immune to my pain meds?

Re: Oh, my back.....my stomach and my back!

Are you allowed warm baths? If so, I suggest you take one, they can really help with hurting muscles. If not, use a heating pad or if someone is around ask for a gently back massage. Are you able to take ibuprofen or alleve? If so, try that since they have anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce swelling and pain. Hopefully this helps.

I used a hot pack which seemed to help, I hope it feels better soon.

Re: Oh, my back.....my stomach and my back!

I get stabbing pains near my belly button incision. Doc told me to expect that because nerve endings are cut and need to find somewhere else to connect.
However I am sure most of my pain is from gas. Its a crampy type of pain but when I pass gas I feel much better. And using a heating pad has helped a lot too.

Drunk peppermint tea for the gas.

Re: Oh, my back.....my stomach and my back!

Thanks for your suggestions, ladies! I did use the heating pad for my back, however I was concerned about using it on my stomach. The pain I am having is not gas, but could have something to do with nerves. If its not better by Thursday, I will be calling my doc.....thanks again, ladies!

P.S. Team Unstoppable,

As much as I drink tea for pain, hadn't dawned on me to try any today.....thanks for the reminder!
