New and Super Nervous

Hello Ladies,
I'm Claudia and scheduled to have my surgery on Friday 4/18. I am really really nervous because I am almost 6 years post-op gastric bypass and have an incisional hernia. I'm terrified of how this may complicate my surgery. Just looking for some understanding ears and possibly some insight if anyone else has had open gastric bypass prior to their hyst. I thank God I found this site. You have no idea how comforting it is.

Claudia this had been one of the best places that I have found to help all of the "princess in waiting". My thoughts are with you and you will get thru this bumps in your life. One of my friends had the gastric bypass prior to the hyster and now 2 years recovery she says it is the best thing she has done for herself....not many complications for her and I hope the best for you

Hi Claudia, Welcome. Talk to your doctor if you are truly terrified. Fear and stress can cause a slower healing time, but if you can visualize a relaxed and successful procedure, it truly can help minimize complications. It sounds like hocus pocus, but there have been some very convincing studies on it. Try getting your Zen on (relaxing) and know that you will be supported by all the great sistas on this site.
