TAH: TAH scheduled for tomorrow, can I take Tylenol and use Icy Hot??

Good Morning! I am scheduled to have a TAH tomorrow morning (9/13) at 11 am. Last night around 9 pm my neck went out some and I used Icy Hot, Anyone know if that is permitted prior to surgery?? Also, can I take Tylenol for the pain? I know I cannot take Advil and it is the weekend and cannot reach my doctor....any help would be wonderful, thank you soooo much!

My doctor didn't say I couldn't take my meds early am of my surgery which was at 2pm. He didn't want me sipping water though. But my doctor was very lax on lots compared to almost everyone else.... so best advise call and ask. Try the office or hospital. If they say no and you have they will cancel today's surgery... so be careful.

My understanding is tylenol is okay but not after midnight the night before surgery. I wasn't to have ANYTHING after midnight before surgery and was recommended not much even to eat after about 5 in the afternoon. But, as far as the day before for pain, my dr. said no to ibuprofen and yes to tylenol if I just had to have it but use sparingly. I wish you well!!

My doctor said tylenol was okay up until midnight prior to surgery. I would check with the pharmacy and see about the icy hot. They should be able to tell you.

You should be okay but call your Dr or the hospital to double check. Better to be safe than sorry.
