I could not imagine wearing spanx today and I'm 4 weeks PO. After surgery I was surprised how little pain I was in, because the pain I had been living with for so many years was gone. I was able to lay around for about a week and a half before I started getting really bored. Then I would do something simple like put on a heavy coat and stand outside to watch the dogs play. That's when my spotting started. The weight restriction is really important. Not squatting down to pet my fur babies was hard too. My doctor told me no lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk and no squatting. I could bend at the waist, but not squat.
Whenever I started feeling like super woman and ignoring him, my body reminded me he was the doctor and I should listen. I'm still on weight restrictions and squatting restrictions, and I'm mostly sticking to them. The spotting and bleeding finally stopped. I did carry my fat cat last night up our stairs and today my right ab pain and leg pain are back.
I'm feeling better than I have in several years. I hope your experience is as relieving as mine has been. If I could do one thing different, I would have started stool softener and tea before surgery. The first BM took 4 days after surgery and was scary. I was taking colace, but bought some smooth move tea to help get things moving. I'm still taking stool softeners, because straining could damage my repairs.
As for the sling. I was really scared because of all the lawsuits surrounding mesh. Surgery without mesh was not an option for me. So far, I am pleasantly surprised. I'm sleeping through the night without getting up 3+ times to dribble a little. I'm not doing the potty dance on the toilet to get out as much as I can, while I can.
When they removed my catheter at the hospital and allowed me to start peeing on my own I had to get a catheter reinserted after each pee to ensure my bladder was emptying. I had to do this dipstick test 4 times, because the first two I wasn't fully emptying. I figured it out on the last two. I had to hold it until I absolutely could not stand it any more, then sit, relax and pee as long as I could. My last two dipsticks were perfect.
Before this surgery if I had to pee even a little, I had to go right away or risk leaking. After this surgery I can lay in bed and hold it if I think it's too cold to crawl out from under my blankets. When I got to the potty, I had to lean to left, and lean to the right. Lean back, lean forward. All to get the right angle for the urine to flow. Now I just sit down, relax, and it comes out. It just keeps coming out. I don't mean to keep going on about my bathroom habits. But my prolapsed uterus was dragging my bladder out too. It had kinked my urethra like a garden hose. I didn't realize how bad it was until after this surgery. It's amazing now. I'm glad I finally got a doctor who felt this was the solution, because keigels just weren't cutting it. I was tired too, very tired and now I'm hopeful that things will finally get better.
I know you're scared and nervous, waiting for this to happen. I'll be sending you positive thoughts and prayers all along the way.

Hi 37istooyoung, I'm sorry I'm so late getting here. The days are so busy this month and it's taking everything in me to finish necessary stuff around here.
Thank you for your comments, it's so good to hear from another who is happy with the results. 37 is young for sure but I kind of wish I had it then and it was all behind me not having to suffer what I've been going through the last year or so. Not because I'm so afraid of my age but now in your case you are basically done with all that if you take care of yourself now.
I do so understand about the bathroom habits you have talked about so please don't apologize it's part of this going on. It's getting harder and harder for me to have either a BM or to empty my bladder without issues. In this last month the prolapse has gotten worse and I will be blessed to make it okay to January 22nd. I am so very tired now and really can't wait. I tried keigels in the beginning of all this but the cramps afterwards was just unbelievable, as if I was having a horrid monthly. I had to give those up for sure.
I did not even decorate for the holidays at all and to top that all off I tore my bicep muscle in my right arm in October. Doc said not much can be done other than to rest it and only other option is surgery so that's a no go now. So instead of writing out Christmas cards I'm printing them all out and addressing them on the computer. Talk about when it rains it pours. I feel like a basket case lately. No baking at all it is too much to be on my feet for long hours like before and the backaches are like labor pains.
The only thing I worry about now are my dogs getting their medicines right. I have a hound going on 17 and then my Pom that I mentioned who is on heart medicine. They dare not have the medicine mixed up so I'm drilling it into my husband and son how to do it right plus sorting it into those dated medicine boxes with the names attached. As far as food the worse that will happen is they will be overfed.
For the rest I frankly don't care, I'm too exhausted to care much. I will try to get the house decent and all but even with that all I want is a clean bed for when I'm home.
Again thank you for the comforting words and for the prayers and good thoughts. I hope and pray your recovery continues in the manner it is now. Take care and have a wonderful holiday season.
Hugs,
Diana

You too. I hope your holiday is peaceful and as pain free as possible. I'm sorry to hear about your arm. We barely got the tree up this year. With little ones it wasn't an option to skip it.
If I were you I would buy some smooth move tea and stool softeners. I wish I had started that sooner. My first movement after surgery took 4 days, and it was painful. If I could do it again, I'd have started those sooner.
I'll continue to send prayers at least you have a date planned.
