When is it TOO MUCH information?

My head is spinning; feel like I'm on information overload. After my "mini-crisis" with renewed heavy bleeding (had 2 months without it and thought my buddy menopause was finally here, how dumb was that) that doc stated was the "beginning" of hemorraging - and 2 months after my (now-former!) GP told me I had anemia then wouldn't let me start iron supplements til I had a colonoscopy, even after I questioned re the bleeding. Guess he also thought it was menopause. ANYWAY, after first shock of not one but two issues needing to be addressed, I felt that TAH, although very scary since a tonsillectomy as a kid was all I've ever had surgery wise, was probably not only my best solution but not doing it was probably just postponing the inevitable. HOWEVER, I've done as everyone suggests and done alot of on-line research and now feel overwhelmed! Have been very much looking forward to not only the end of the bleeding and feeling semi-crappy most of the time but also to not having my bladder bug me all the time. Then I read that your other organs, including bladder, can "drop" from lack of support from the uterus being gone and start incontinence. ARGHH! And I sure don't want to lose my sex life; it's been a very special part of our marriage!
Anyway, this is my first message here. Have been ready lots of them and am so impressed with your ladies. This is a wonderful site.
Sorry so wordy; symptom of my brain overload, I fear. Thanks to all.

When is it TOO MUCH information?

Hey Cyndo,

Hang in there! It will get better. I remember back at the end of May or the beginning of June when I first found this site, I too was overwelmed with the thought of surgery.

I have not had any heavy bleeding, so I can't relate to that, but I remember that is why my mom had the hysterectomy.

Focus on your wellness. This website and your hyster sisters are wonderful and there is alot of info to take in. But, learn from it and continue to do your research. Ask lots of questions. There is no stupid or dumb question.

Talk to your doctor about all the issues regarding what type of surgery vs. the other, and the bladder issue as well. Recovery time will vary depending on what kind of surgery you have.

Stayed tuned to this site. Let us know what else we can do for you.
Thoughts and prayers to you,
Colleen

Hello

I can understand you being overwhelmed. There is alot of information on this site alone. I am so glad to have found it. I had a tvh with a suspension and some recontructive work, I kept my ovaries. I had Pelvic floor disorder, sever prolapsed uterus and due to Intersistial Cystitis ( a bladder disorder with resemble a UTi) The prolapse was making it very uncomfortable for me to have bowel movements and increased pressure , plus back pain. I also deal with fibromyalgia. I took 6 yrs to come to a decision and almost wish I had done it sooner. I had to have the right time when I knew I was done having children and that my children were old enough to handle things better due to my oldest has Autism. My doctor would not do my surgery unless I was done having children and sure. Use this site for support and information , but remember you and your situation is yours alone .. You have to do what is going to be right for you and give you back quality of life. Do what will offer you a healthy happy and fullfilled life. Yes it is a slow recovery and it is scary.. I to only had my tonsils out at 5 yrs old and I am 39 yrs. My husband and I have a awesome sex life and I have no doubt that when the time is right of which we are waiting will be just as awesome. See before my surgery I usually only had a orgasm when hubby did oral.. and we can still do that till we get the all clear.. Dont let to much of this scare you.. use it to help.. If you still are very concerned ask your doctor.. I hope I helped ease your mind some.. See I waited and it only got worse it effected my health. I also found out part of my problem could be due to a eating disorder I had before . So now I am doing what it takes to be healthy and hubby tells me he would rather wait and have me healthy..If you would like to chat more look me up.. Take care and be well((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))
