Too many choices

I had my surgery a week ago tomorrow, TVH. I was put on the "Climara" patch that I can't keep on my skin So after wasting two of the 10.00 patches I called the Dr. I am already suffering from night sweats and hot flashes (go figure) so she's changing me to "Premrin" oral. So what's the difference? is the oral better or the patch for providing ample hormone coverage?
What can I expect with the oral? Should I ask for something else at my post op visit at the end of the month? There are sure alot of choices out there. My problem is I suffer from violent migranes (blackout's, vomiting, ER visits) just worried about them flaring on the harmones. I haven't had a migrane in a while since they attacked the day I started my period and no period's for several months since I was on two birth control pills a day. I did get a migrane with the morphine given in the hospital, now that was awful. (sorry rambling)

Too many choices

If the Climara wasn't sticking you may want to ask about the Vivelle Dot. It is a much smaller patch and seems to have a better adhesion success rate.

We are all different when it comes to hrt. Some women do well on Premarin, some don't. Headaches can be one of the side effects of premarin.

Good luck!

my 2 cents..

Hi ladies,

I, too, had trouble getting the Climara patch to stick - a lot of trouble... I exercise (sweat) a lot and the patch was falling off after 2 or 3 days!! I switched to Vivelle dot and it sticks like crazy!! I cant believe the difference. I prefer the patch, cuz the absorption is more predictable, bypassing the GI system and the liver is not involved, also.
Good luck in the jungle!!
