Back to work and so so tired!!
Well I took the full 12 weeks off from work as the doctor said I shouldn't go back till now as when I am at work I do heavy lifting. Anyway now I have been back about a week and a half and I have no energy. I get tired so quickly I feel like I am a lead weight. Is this normal or am I an odd case? I get home from work and I feel quite exhausted!!

back to work
Today 5/7/03 was my first day back to one job(pharmacy) after 7 weeks, after being on my feet 5 hours I started to tire and feel some stinging in my insicion area, my timmy was getting heavy too. I have another part time job in a group home for mentally challenged individuals and there is a lot of physical work. I am scheduled to go back to that job next week and a bit scared of the lifting and I will be back to 8 hour days, I am pooped after five. Hope I'm ready. We have to listen to our bodies, we only have one time to heal right and if I had the time i would stay out longer, I worked 7 weeks without pay from the pharmacy and donated time from co-workers from the group home, so I really can't afford to stay out, just have to pace myself.

Back to work and so so tired!!
Hi Sharman
I took 19 weeks off work after a TAH. I too did get extremely tired and exhausted, it use to hit me around 1pm in the afternoon, tiredness lasted around 10 months for me. Only advice I can give you is listen to your body and take it easy when you get in from work, rest as much as you can at the weekend.
Full recovery can take up to 12 months.
Hope you feel much better soon.
Hugs
Jane
P.S see your GP and get a blood test done to see if your iron levels are o.k, and start taking multi vits these will help. I take multibionta from boots which work extremely well for me.

thanks Jane. I just felt as though I was odd and I should be back to normal right now. When they said 3 months and whoopee your better I believed them. I never bargained for this. Hope you soon feel back to your old self too.

Back to work and so so tired!!
I plan to start work next week, at 4-1/2 weeks post op TAH/BSO, but I am a technical writer so spend about 70% of the day at my desk. No heavy lifting or long periods of standing. I plan to start on 1/2 days and after a few days go to full time.
I feel pretty good, and I'm walking 2 miles + each day to build up some endurance. Still can't wear jeans or anything that puts any pressure on my belly. Incision still very tender, too.
I expect to be quite tired for a while since I've done virtually nothing for a month. I'm really hoping I don't injure myself by gong to work early.
Thanks to all of you wonderful women for sharing.
Danna

Great employer!
I go back next Monday (May 12) after 8 weeks. My supervisor said he scheduled me 9 to 4 but if I don't feel good, I am free to go anytime during the day - he has someone with me constantly for the first 2 wks to do all the heavy lifting for me (I'm a shipper/receiver - unload freight and heavy skids from trucks), then my "shadow" will gradually cut the hours he's with me over the next four weeks. I never asked for this - my supervisor took it upon himself to arrange it! Needless to say, I am quite grateful and it makes going back to work that much easier!
Good Luck to all of you!
Chantal
