Natural hormones??

Pam,
I've not tried Estrovan, but wanted to stop by and say Hi! You also should keep in mind that for the next 6 - 8 weeks your body is going to go thru many changes. You may experience some fluctuations in your hormone levels, such as hot flashes, etc. You should give your body a chance to heal and the hormones to level out before you start messing too much with your hrt mix. In the meantime you can go to http://www.hormonejungle.com and do some reading on the different types of hrt available.
Good luck and keep us posted on your recovery.
Hugs :-)

Natural hormones??

Estrevan is not HRT but is a pill containing the two soy isoflavones. The knowledge of what these isoflavones do is very sketchy and in any case is a tiny fraction of what even low-dose HRT can do for you. With menopausal symptoms, there is a high level of placebo response, and soy isoflavones do not score higher than a placebo (though the whole soy protein may). So it might not be the soy that's making her feel great. In any case, it's a product designed for women going through regular menopause. Their ovaries are still producing hormones. In surgical menopause, we have none of that protective layer of hormones. So, HRT is worth some tinkering to find a livable balance for those of us in surgical menopause.

Hot flashes are a sign of fluctuating levels and can be caused by other medicines. So some might be all the anesthesia etc. and some is the dropping of your own levels as that in your tissues gets used up. You will probably have them no matter what you try because, as Kim says, your levels WILL fluctuate over the next couple of months. If your HRT is working they should be minimized though. Some people don't absorb hormones well through their skin, so it might be that an oral form would work better over the long haul.

And of course you tire easily. You will feel quite a bit of fatigue for at least two more months and some extra fatigue for six months to a year.
