newbie considering a hyst for endo problems

Hi all. I've just found this site and am trying to wade thru all this info. I'm 36, no children and just had lap #3 for my endo. The dr couldn't 'do' anything with the endo he found. I have 4 diff kinds of endo they could see. 2 of which they have never seen b4 all over both of my fallopian tubes and growths comming out of one ovary. That surgery was on 4/15. I'm going for a second opinion on 6/9, but fear that a hyst is my only option for anything close to a normal life.

I'd like to know how many endo sufferers on this board had any luck with a hyst? My dr reccomened both ovaries, tubes and the uterus to be removed. I've been on disability since 4/2 and am still struggling with dibilitating pain everday. I don't see any other choice at this point..........

Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Endo relief

I just had surgery on May 7th for severe endo (my Dr. said if there was a stage 5 that would be me) and I already feel better than I have in years. I'm not medically trained and can only tell you my experience has been wonderful so far and I can't imagine it getting worse now. Talk to a specialist and weigh your choices. Surely there's an option for you besides a lifetime of pain. Let us know what you decide, we'll be thinking of you.

Hello

I had stage 4 (severe) endo. I had one laparoscopy, then a laparotomy (right ovary removed), then the hyster done on April 30th.

At two weeks post-op I feel sooooooooo much better than I did before! Even with post-op pain I feel better...it's hard for me to sit still when I feel such relief from the endo.

I do still have my left ovary, but with the uterus gone I've got less of a chance of reoccurance. My endo (this time) was found completely covering the back of the uterus, fibroids inside, and aden. on the inside wall of the uterus.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'different kinds' of endo. As far as I've researched there's only one kind, endo is endo. I'd ask my doctor more questions if he used that term with you...it's good to know what you're dealing with.

newbie considering a hyst for endo problems

Hi Hope you are feeling better. A hysterectomy is not a cure for endo. I had a hyst in July 02 with the uterus and right ovary removed the left was removed in 99 for a cyst and endo. I did not have my cervix removed. After a month or so the pain was back and I was having what some people call mini period but the pain that came along with it was terrible. I would have to miss a couple of days off work and when I return I would still be in so much pain. That I would go in the ladies room and cry. So may sure you have a very good dr. that will remove all the endo. Because I have read that if any is left it will just keep growing and causing you to have pain.

WOW, reading these posts leaves me feeling as concerned as ever! I, too, have endo, and do not have a castle date as of yet. I think that deep down in my mind that I'm afraid that I will continue to have pain and be in misery even AFTER the hysterectomy ! So in some small way, keeping that as a "last" option, is what gives me the most comfort.

Thanks , girls, for sharing your stories !!

Hugs,
Katy
