Less than 24 hours to go!

Okay- so I am starting to freak out just a tad. Don't know why, I am thrilled to by having my TVH after years and years of problems.

Okay- going to go do some housework and try to think of other things.

Any last minute suggestions?

For all of Princesses- what is the one thing you would recomment taking to the hospital?

Thanks in advance!!

Less than 24 hours to go!

The best thing I took to the castle was my own pillow. I take it everywhere. It just makes me feel more comfortable when I'm away from home to have that little piece of "my own."

Good luck and let us know where you are home so we can have the tea and brownies ready. I pray everything will be routine.

Less than 24 hours to go!

Hi Sheridan,

I know that this is the time that most people really get tense, but try to enjoy the holiday and have some fun!

You asked what was the one thing I brought with me to the hospital - well, I brought two. The first may seem silly, but it was a Teddy Bear that my Mom gave to me. It ended up being the thing I used most to help me with the coughing (I pushed it against my stomach to help ease the pain)

The second thing I brought with me was a picture of my family. Why? Because I could look at it and see all the people who were rooting for me. It made me smile.

Soon you will be a new Princess!. I'm cheering you on!

Big HUG!

Less than 24 hours to go!

Sheridan,

My experience is posted under the "New Princess - Painless" thread.

Honestly, I have had more discomfort by going to the dentist, than I have had with my TVH. Many people on these boards tell us the same thing, but we choose to identify with the people who are having it bad. I really believe that these are the minority and most people breeze through.

I brought most of the stuff I took to the Castle, home unused, I read half of a book. My fav pastime was sleeping..lol

Don't try and be a hero. Take all medication that is recommended and you will be fine

Good Luck...Not that you will need it !

Sheridan we have all been there and really know what you are going through I took lots of socks but didn't wear any because of the surgical stockings you have to wear!Nor did i wear any bras I took a small personal radio cause i didn't fancy using the castle's communal earplugs This was useful for drowning out the wingers and the snorers I wish i had taken more than 1 flavour of juice and also some sherbet(for the gas) You will find that visitors are more than open to suggestions on what to bring you. lots of luck and take care HEATHER

Less than 24 hours to go!

Hi Sheriden
Just wanted to say good luck. I have two weeks to go TAH/BSO and I'm already getting nervous. From all the support here they say the
waiting is the toughest part. I was glad to hear that others feel the same way. Just think it will be over soon and you'll be on your road to recovery.

I have a good feeling of what you are going through. I go in on the 27th also. I have to be there at 11:00 am -- surgery is at 1:00. I am doing the same thing, keeping myself busy with housework and getting the laundry done for the kids for the week (I have 5).

I would recommend.......

bringing a good positive attitude. I am 8 weeks post-op and believe me I was so sacared to the point I was talking and thinking all negative thoughts well my mother had a TAH also (thats what I had) and she told me to go into it with a positive attitude and It would go alot better well the day of surgery Iwas joking with my family and the nurse I felt really calm and ready so I know your question was for material items to bring but believe me ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!!!!! bring a positive one and youll do fine. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
