I'm tired of being fat!!!

I'm 7weeks post op now and I want to get back to my exercise routine. I'm losing weight everywhere except my stomach and I know it's because I'm still healing(but I don't have to like it uuugggh) I was doing tae bo, yoga, and pilates which all work the abdomen I was curious to know if anyone has started do ab work so soon and if they got any results? I still have swelly belly it comes and goes ...I can't wait until it just goes...I've been walking but it seems that I need to do more.

I'm tired of being fat!!!

Hi!

After I was cleared to resume activities I gradually resumed my normal exercise routine. On the days I exercised my belly was bigger than usual. This is just plain swelly belly. You are correct - you don't have to like it; however, there is not much you can do - your body just needs time to heal. Although the initial recovery period is 6-8 weeks it can actually take many months to be completely healed. I think I still had some swelly belly until about 4-5 months post-op. Hang in there - it does get better!

Here is a great link where swelly belly is discussd in detail:

Take care!

I'm tired of being fat!!!

I started back to my exercise routines with ab work at 6 weeks post. Took it easy at first and have had no problems. I still have swelly at 4 1/2 months post, but I'm not going to let that be an excuse not to exercise. I love to exercise and if my stomach doesn't like it... too bad. I'm starting to push two 15 lbs dumbbells over my head for military alternates now which means I've surpassed my pre-surgery abilities already. That's my goal and no swelly belly is going to stop me. I work out at home so no one sees my little puffy lower abs anyway. Can't wait until I can push my 20# dumbells. 40# repeatedly over my head. That make the belly swell for sure. I'll have awesome shoulders though!!!
