HRT and acne ?

Thought I would post this here to those of you who have maybe been through this.

I have been on Lupron and had some acne because of it. What I am wondering about is does acne go away after a hyst? Or does it still hang aroung because of HRT? By the way I am 29 yrs old and having a LAVH/BSO. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. I am so tired of this acne! I wish it would just go away allready!

acne

HI! I was on lupron too, at one time, and it did break my face out. I was having some pretty serious acne before my TAH, too - but now that I've had it, it's much better. I kept one ovary, and hormone levels have evened out - I think that's the key.

I hate zits too! good luck!!!!

acne

I have fought mild acne all my adult years. It got really bad after my last pregnancy so I went to a dermatologist and asked for Accutane. The way it was explained to me is that over time the oil glands in our faces get larger and more active. The accutane shrinks them back to the size of a child. That's why small children have such pretty skin. It has horrible side affects that cause excessively dry skin while you are taking it, but is worth the effort. The treatment is 5 months. Even though my tubes were tied, I had to have monthly pregnancy tests that were required by the drug manufacture because it causes birth defects if you become pregnant. I don't know what they do for someone after a hyst. It is very expensive and not all insurance plans will cover it. If you start taking it, go to the store and in the baby section they sell different creams for breast feeding. Look for Lanisoh, it is pure lanolin. Again expensive. but it was the only product that helped my lips. I felt like they were peeling off my face! Don't get the cheap lanolin from the pharmacy, it is sticky white stuff that doesn't work as well. The Lanisoh is like putting on clear lip gloss and stays on for quite a while. Within 2 days after completing my last prescription, my lips felt normal.

Another idea...I had to start taking prednisone almost 3 years ago for an auto immune disease. It is a hormone and caused my acne to flare up again. My sister told me about Proactive products that she gets for her teenagers. I got it from QVC and it took care of everything.

Good luck. We have been through too much already to have to deal with pimples.

take care.
