Heart Palpitations

I was prone to heart palpitations during my presurgery peripenopause state. now I have had a TAH w/ovaries out, got a shot of estrogen in hospital on around 5-7-03 and noticed last couple weeks frequent palpitations, esp. at night or when lying down. Just started on the estrogen patch yesterday a low dose. wondering if heart palpitations directly related to the hormonal thing? anyone else experience this? I have an appt. w/my internist Monday. he prescribed over the phone a beta blocker but I am hesitant to start cuz I feel I may be mixing things up too much due to the whole surgical menopause thing?????

heart palpitations can be caused from a hormonal imbalance but anything with the heart should be throughly checked by your dr...of course.

Hi maryann I agree with (((Cynthia))), this is something you need to make sure to address with your DR. I have palpitations when my estrogen level is too low, and had all kinds of tests (including EKG) to make sure there wasn't some underlying problem (there isn't). Hopefully yours may turn out to be the same?
