uterine cancer

I have Grade II uterine cancer (don't know the staging yet), and am having a radical hysterectomy on June 18.

On June 10 I am having a CT scan and chest x-ray; can anyone tell me what to expect with the CT scan? Do they give you an enema?

Also, how long before you can drive or ride in a car after surgery?

And, anyone else out there who had hysterectomy due to uterine cancer? I am interested in knowing how many of you had to have radiation or chemo, and what your experience was.

Thank you.

Hi Daisy!

and Welcome! You've found a great resource here.

My hyst was due to prolapse, but I found a link to a section of the site called "Cancer Concerns". I'm sure you'll find the answers to a lot of your questions here:

As far as driving, most of us are told that there is NO driving for at least 2 weeks; sometimes 4, depending on your procedure and healing. If you're a passenger, make sure you bring a small pillow to put between the seatbelt and your tender belly. I was able to ride in a car (As a passenger) several days after surgery, but it's still very uncomfortable to sit up at that point in recovery.

Hope you find what you're looking for here. I'm sorry you're facing this surgery, but remember you are not alone!
