"Phantom" periods?

I've read here about women knowing when they would have had their period after the surgery. Doe's everyone get this or no? I can't know by date since I started bleeding back in Nov. and didnt stop till about 3 weeks before my surgery at the end of April. I still have my ovaries but don't really know if they have started working again or not. I was having night sweats at first but I started taking black cohosh to see if that would help. (Didnt want to take the homone patches dr. gave me) Anyway, I was curious what to expect. Sometimes I get that kind of old crampy feeling I used to get but then I wonder if it was from pulling those weeds I wasnt supposed to pull. I did have a chocolate craving for a while but then what do you expect sitting around for 6 weeks with nothing better to do then EAT! Any thoughts on the subject? Thanks.

"Phantom" periods?

Dear abcsee:
I still get what I call period symptoms. I feel alittle bit of cramping and I get that old PMS feeling, but I wonder if thats just a symptom of the surgery? I do know when I should have gotten my period because the date of my last period is engraved in my mind. I can't really say that I know because of the symptoms. But I do know that sometimes I hear myself saying wow I feel like I'm going to get my period. But of course I'm not. Maybe our bodies are still expecting a period. I don't have any ovaries so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels these symptoms. I hope this helps. Hugs, Diana

"Phantom" periods?

Glad to hear this is happening to someone else, too. I thought I was losing my mind. LOL

I had my surgery in March and I had that crampy cranky crabby craving chocolate day before feeling on the exact right day in May and June (skipped April).

Really confusing to get cramps in something you know doesn't exist...

"Phantom" periods?

Whan I had my 2 wk. check-up (2 Wks. ago) I asked my Dr. about hot flashes and that "period feeling"... since I was able to keep my ovaries I didn't know what to expect either. She said that after the ovaries come out of shock,I'll probably notice some mild symptoms around the time that I would normally ovulate...nothing much about cramping but she did say that I could experience breast tenderness. After a while though the ovaries will tend to die off from lack of blood supply from the uterus. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing BUT it is on my list of questions for the 6 wk. check-up on the 18th. Hope this helped a little. I wish everyone a great recovery.
