If you suspect urinary tract problems

Ladies, if you suspect you have a urinary tract infection or your kidneys are not functioning properly after your surgery, keep on your doctors. I had my surgery in February, 2003. I kept telling my doc I felt like I had an infection (I had fever and pain). She kept telling me no you don't you're just bruised from the surgery. I insisted she do a urinalysis which she did and low & behold I did have an infection. To my surprise, she gave me 3 days' of antibiotic treatment and said I'd be ok. I kept telling her I didn't think it was gone. She did another urinalysis and said it was normal. Now, 4 months later, I have such a terrible infection, my legs have been swollen and so sore I can barely walk. It has taken a lot of trips to my GP's office, but finally after numerous tests and x-rays, he decided I have a really bad UTI. He gave me Cipro and with just one dose so far I've seen the swelling in my legs go down. My legs have been like this for over 2 weeks now. It is ridiculous I got in this condition. I should have gone to my GP after my surgery when I still suspected I had the UTI.
My warning to everyone is, if you think you have something going on, keep bugging the doc until he/she listens to you. You do not want to get into such bad shape it takes forever to get back to "normal".
Good luck sisters.

If you suspect urinary tract problems

Hi

I agree entirely with Shirley!!! I have had many complications with all my surgeries and infections including UTI's. Please remember we want the best care for you, but when something is not feeling 'right', the best thing you can do for yourself is to call your doctor. He/she knows you best and knows how to diagnose problems!
