Stuff not to take with estradiol; how to make those patches stick though anything

I'm back for a bit! I just felt I should share some important information I learned about estradiol, and a great way to make those patch things stick through anything!

If you are taking estradiol in ANY form, do NOT take St. Johns Wort. It causes a problem in the way your body handles the hormone, reducing its effectiveness and your blood level of the hormone. Also, if you drink grapefruit juice, be aware that it also causes a problem with estradiol, in that it increases the level of the hormone in the blood, and inhibits its metabolism into estriol and estrone, two other estrogens needed by the body. This could make you have symptoms of too much estrogen. (This information is from the literature provided with the drugs.)

To make those patches stick through bathing and swimming, clean area first with alchohol, dry, apply patch, then blow on it with a blow dryer for a minute or two. This helps the adhesive to really stick. When its time to remove them they come off easier, too.

Thank you so much! I've had a difficult time keeping those tricky patches on since surgery 9 weeks ago. Can't wait to try your advice!

Thank you for the tips!

I have been battling with the patches for months. I live near the ocean and am in the water alot and between that, showers, sunscreen etc... I lose one patch for every 4 they package in the box. This is a problem since my insurance will only cover them every 4 weeks. And then there is the beauty of the patch when they start coming off. I joke with my husband on how attractive they must be with the gummy adhesive spreading out everywhere. By day 7 it is quite the picture! I am going to try your advice on Monday (new patch day!) Thank you!!!!!!
