Ovarian Cyst

Hello, a friend of mine is going for surgery tomorrow as she has an ovarian cyst. Does anyone of you know anything about this and any info you could pass on to me would be appreciated. Can this develop into cancer, etc etc?

A caring friend is the most wonderful kind of friend.

Unfortunately, an ovarian cyst can be cancerous but you really have to wait until after surgery for a definate diagnosis. My ovarian cyst was cancerous and my doctor knew it just by looking at it during the surgery. Then the pathology report confired his initial diagnosis.

It is devistating at first and you feel as if your whole world is falling apart but it is not!!

My ovarian cyst found by an MRI was borderline ovarian cancer. They really have no idea until surgery.
Let's hope your friend's is benign

The cyst could certainly also be benign - mine was, despite being 14 cm and with a CA 125 of 80. I hope everything turns out well for your friend.
