Had my consult today

I'm scheduled for August 20 for my TAH/BSO. I was hoping to get an earlier date, but this was the first date open! I'm off the whole summer and I was hoping to be able to go back to work in September, but it looks like I'm looking at the middle of October for my return. She said I have to be out for eight weeks. I work in an elementary school (I'm a cook in the kitchen) and I have a very physical job...on my feet for six hours rushing around all day. She left the decision up to me whether or not to take out my ovaries. Since I've had cysts on them before and, since I'm 43 and wouldn't have to be on hormones for a long time, she said that, if it were her, she would take them out. She also went into how ovarian cancer is so hard to detect, and with the history of cysts, I may be facing another surgery down the line and end up with having them taken out, so I told her to go ahead and do it. I was also told I couldn't drive for three weeks, but could go for a drive after a week and a half or two, depending on how I felt, I just can't drive. She is removing my cervex because I always have paps come back abnormal (always with a normal follow up though). The countdown begins!

(((Dopey Sharon)))
Welcome to Hyster Sisters! The wait time can seem to take forever, but the day will arrive before you know it. I have also questioned my returning to a school so soon. I will be six weeks post-op the week before school starts, and I am not sure how prepared I will be to start teaching! The long days on your feet can be difficult enough without having just gone through a major surgery! At least your dr is letting you take eight weeks! Remember to actually rest and take the extra time to heal! Welcome and good luck!
