black cohosh when does it kick in.

Hi everyone. I have been reading the boards for a few months. I had hysterectomy 2-18-03. In which I had complication and had to go back in for surgery the next day. My uterus and ovary was full of endo. They left one of the ovary. I just took black cohosh today. I am sure it will take time to get into my system. But for those of you that take it how long was it before you felt the effects of it? If it was only hot flashes I could handle those. Getting my head to work correctly would be great. I am only 36 I shouldn't be tired all the time. I used to be a energitic person. Well orginized and now trying to organize teenage lives and hosehold lives plus a job is almost impossible. Not to mention my husband is getting a little deprived. I go back to the dr next month for a check. I am hopeing that the black cohosh will help me so I don't have to go on anything else. In one way I would love to have my sanity back but reading about people takeing hormone replacement can aslo make things really go crazy. I quess I have decided to introduce myself now because I don't know what is wrong with me other then knowing that since my hysterectomy simtums are getting worse. I just figured I was a strong person I would work myself out this.

black cohosh when does it kick in.

Melisd,
The black cohosh will probably help with the hot flashes, but not sure about it helping with your tiredness. It sounds like maybe your remaining ovary isn't functioning. It can take a few weeks until you notice the effects of the black cohosh.

Red Clover can help with moods. You can read more about red clover and black cohosh in the articles at www.hormonejungle.com

Have you talked with your about the symptoms you're having? You really should. It is not uncommon for the ovaries, or ovary in your case, to go to following a hysterectomy. Sometimes they wake up, sometimes they don't. You really need to discuss with your doctor and let him/her know what's going on.

If your doctor determines that the ovary isn't functioning, he/she may prescribe hormone replacement therapy (hrt) and that may take care of your symptoms.

black cohosh when does it kick in.

Hi, I started taking the black cohosh and within just a few days the hot flashes stopped. I had been up every night sweating before I started taking it so of course I was relieved to get some good rest. I am 37 years old and had a total hyssterectomy in Nov 02. I have had a hard time trying to get the HRTs right. I have stoped the estrogen now, but I do seem to be very tired.Someone from the forum suggested the estrogen patch and progesterone cream. Hope you get good results from the black cohosh, and you might try some vitamin B for energy.
Best of luck to you, and remember a lot of people have these same problems and it will get better.

Good morning I looked under the www.hormonejungle.com And got alot of good information. I do think I am seeing a little difference with the black cohosh but only time will tell. I am hopeing that by July 3 when I go back to the dr. I will be able to tell if it really is working or not.

black cohosh when does it kick in

Well I talked with my Dr. and now I am taking censtin and the black cohosh. So hopefully things will kick in soon. Again I could really handle the hot flashes if I could only try and get rid of the fog that is in my head. The one thing that I did notice yesterday is that my headache that I have all the time was less then it has been.

Hi,

I took it at some point for hot flashes before I had my surgery and I remember it taking 4 to 12 weeks to work. The brand Remefim (not sure of spelling), is the one I took and seemed to work better than other brands.

censtin

Hi, what is censtin? I made a trip to the herbal store and got some am-pm all natural pills. I am not sure if they will work, but am trying everything right now. I meet with my Doctor tomorrow, and hopefully he will listen this time!!!! I don't think I am going to be able to tolerate the straight estrogen. I sure hope this gets straightened out. Best of luck to you.

censtin is a low estrogen. I am very lucky that my dr. listens to me. Not only is she my dr. But a friend so she seems to listen. I am thinking about adding vitamin B to try and get my energy back. I hate takeing pills so to keep adding new ones on is really hard for me.
