The biggest shock I have ever had

Hello Sisters
I had my op on 27th May and was very shocked when the hospital rang to reschedule my 6 week check to a 3 week check which took place this last Tuesday. They got me in under false pretences, telling me my consultant needed to re-arrange appointments to fit around his holidays. They in fact told me that cancer cells had been found in my cervix and needed to get me to the hospital to tell me.
My reaction was understandable- tears and an almighty shock. I go for an MRI scan ( not sure what you call it in US) on Monday so all in all the last 5 days have been very difficult and everyone seems to need reassurance from me that I'm going to be ok when I just feel-well I don't know how I feel, but I can't help thinking that everyone is asking too much from me. I had my ovaries removed as well so the menopause is here and I'm having difficulty with the hrt patches (femseven).
Three weeks post-op and the pressure's on but I just wanted to vent a little anger on my computer keyboard and ask if anyone else is in the same boat as me.
Thanks very much ladies because sometimes it feels like you are the only ones who can support me.

It is called an MRI here also.

The biggest shock I have ever had

Hi (((Sisterlister))),

I can understand your shock and how frightened you must feel! I'm sure you were stunned when you went in for your appointment and had no idea about the possibility of cancer.

If it's possible, please get another opinion from an ONC GYN (oncology gynecologist). They are the experts in female cancers, and most of us who have had cancer on these boards would agree. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer by my regular gynecologist, but once the cancer was found, I was referred immediately to my ONC GYN and am grateful for that.

I hope that you'll check out the Cancer Concerns forum as Pamcat suggested. You'll find a lot of support there from some very wonderful and strong women.

Best wishes and lots of s

The biggest shock I have ever had

Sending lots of

I know its difficult, I had pre-malignant cells removed from my cervix last year and then decided to have my cervix removed when I had my hyst, so I know it can be a worrying time

With all the tests and treatments around I am sure you are in very safe hands, I had total faith in my consultant and nursing team, all were wonderful, very supportive, very caring and answered all my questions.

Take care, thinking of you
