How soon can you have sex after a TAH?

Well I am sure this is the ever popular question that everyone asks, but I will ask it again. I am already a little *****, even though it has only been 5 days since my surgery. But don't worry, I will wait, I won't rush things. But I am curious to know how soon most people have been able to sustain till they give in? When do you know it is safe to try it? And how does having a TAH affect a woman's sex life after? Do you lose any sensation, or is it any better for some of you? I would like to hear some input on this subject from any who care to share.

How soon can you have sex after a TAH?

Hi Maryanne,

You must be feeling pretty good to be thinking of intercourse at 5 days post, lol!! Well, you're right, you do have to wait a bit. Your dr. must clear you for intercourse, and this usually occurs at your 6 wk. checkup, when you get the general clearance for your normal activities. The general rule is "nothing in the vagina" (i.e., intercourse), outercourse (use your imagination) is OK. Please do wait for the OK from your dr. as having intercourse too early in recovery can cause problems, you want to make sure you are fully healed first. Good luck to you, and I hope your recovery continues to go well, s

How soon can you have sex after a TAH?

Hi Mary Anne! Same thing here! You have to get cleared by your dr first and that was at my six week check. As far as after a tah (I had tah/bso) I think it's better than ever and I don't have a cervix any longer either. My dh can't tell anything is different. That's what I was worried about. The relief of not worrying about getting pregnant, for us, is wonderful. Good luck to you, and NO CHEATING! You could regret it. Like Marta said, use your imagination. Beth
