Found something that helps with my arthritic pain :)

Hi dear sisters

This week-end, the arthritic pain in my right knee flared so bad that, by Saturday night, I could hardly walk and ended up waking up, in terrible pain, every time I turned. Even after I took my Celebrex 200 and user Absorbine Jr. Arthritic Pain rub, it didn't even touch the pain.

Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling pretty much the same way and the Anti Inflammarories only mildly help with the pain. Since I was off to WalMart's to find a gift for DD's friend who's party she was attending, I stopped by the drugstore and bought Tensor Support Bandage that is made of wook and is designed to specifically help with arthritic pain: what a difference!!! By mid-afternoon, I could walk without limping and I felt so good by supper time that I removed the bandage.

That's when I realized just how much the bandage was helping: the pain started creeping back within 30 minutes. So, needless to say, it's back on!!!

They also have them for the elbows, the wrists and the ankles and they all come in various sizes. I'm really impressed and plan on stocking on the ankle and wrist bandages, since they are the main pain areas, for me.

Just in case you were wondering, they work by providing support to the affected area and by keeping the area warm. However, even with the "heat wave" we're having, it doesn't feel sweaty under the bandage.

Just thought it might interest others who are dealing with this type of pain.

Found something that helps with my arthritic pain :)

Any suggestions for knuckle pain in the hands--not the fingers?

I keep looking for some type of glove, the fingers can be cut out, I just need my knuckles supported.

Thanks!

(((Sabrina)))) I don't know if they had them for the hands, but I imagine that, should you find some for the ankles, wrists, etc., you could enquire from the company I tried to find them on-line, but I threw out the box and couldn't find them.

(((Gidge))) Know how you feel, sweetie I actually found the wool support line last year but, at that time, was struggling with both wrists and ankles as well as the knee and, what with the costs of prescriptions, simply couldn't afford them: the ankle ones are $15.00, the wrists ones are $10.00 and the ones for the knees are $20.00. Those are canadian $$$$... probably a lot cheaper in the US!!!

Hi Dany,

I noticed you suffer from arthritis. I have been plagued by these joint aches since about 8 weeks post op and wondered if you had your arthritis before or after your surgery. I have noticed on the boards that there are an incredible amount of people with this problem. My aches seem to be pretty persistant. If I take anti-inflammatory is helps, but once I get off it is back. I am scheduled to see a specialist in July.

The body must change after surgery somehow to cause this. Is it hormonal you think? I would love to see a poll done to see just how many ladies are getting this. Do you have any info medical or otherwise that supports the connection between hysterectomy and arthritic symptoms. I'd love to hear what you have to say.

I to suffer from aches and pains in my wrists, fingers, lower back, knees and ankles. I think, in my case, it could well be hormonal. Whilst I was on hormone treatment last year for endo the pain in my ankles and knees was terrible, especially in the mornings. About 6/8 weeks after I stopped the treatment the pain lessoned.

I've noticed that since my hyst the pain in my knees etc., has come back along with the headaches (and on occasions migraines)

I take a combination of supplements with a low dose hrt - estrogen 3.2 mg patch - I am due back at the DH tommorow and I think I'll mention the pain to him. I did mention the headaches and he said it could be my hormone levels and will check them in the next couple of months if the headaches persist

I to think it would be a good idea to have a forum or something like a questionnaire to collate all this information - I know that there is some work being done on the connection between endo and autoimmune diseases such as lupus, fyba mal, me, cronic fat. syndrome. This web site is so valuable, it has so many ladies using it from all over the world, it would be so worthwhile and beneficial if the information could be gathered and shared amongst health researcher

Take care

(((Bluebell)))) and ((((suzyQ23))))) I'm so sorry that you're both dealing with these joint pains

In my case, the arthritic pain doesn't seem to be hormone related: I kept my ovaries and, according to tests ran in April, I am not in peri-menopause. The pains might have been present, to a lesser amount, before my hyst... I don't remember. I do know that my right knee has been giving grief for quite some time: I had a damaged cartilage and some problems behind the knee cap and ended up with arthroscopic surgery, in 1985.

One thing I know is that problems stemming from auto-immune disorders can be triggerred by a trauma and surgery is one of the traumas that can cause these triggers. There is now a link between endo and auto-immune disorders. Since my immune system is overactive (lots of allergies, hypoglycemia and now apparent RA), it was bound to happen... and it did.

BTW, here's a link to the Polling Place, one of the Hyster Sisters Forums, where you can post polls or surveys. It's a wonderful idea to ask others about the likelyhood of having arthritis post-hyst. Click here to get to the Polling Place.

Dany,
That's great! I'll have to check those out on my next trip to Wal Mart. Perhaps they would help with my wrists and hands. The splints I'm suppose to be wearing at night don't help at all, in fact make things worse.

I sometimes wonder if the pain and agony I was in due to my female problems may have overshadowed some of my other issues. I always thought my swelling was from the female problems, but I think my GI issues were probably contributing also. Although I do think that things have worsened greatly since my hyst.

((((Kim))))) I do hope you can find some relief for you wrists and hands. I know that I also find the splints do not help at all.

It's amazing what symptoms/pains can be masked but another, more intense, symptom/pain. I know that, pre-hyst, I was attributing my back pains to the fibroid. Turned out that it was the rectocele causing them!!!

Hope you feel better and get answers to some of your questions.

Found something that helps with my arthritic pain :)

Hi Dany

I to now feel that my gyni problems may well have overshadowed other problems that I thought were related only to the endo

Got very emotional at the DR yesterday, wanted a second opinion, so went to see a different DR. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, he just brushed me of, told me it wasnt his AREA, didnt believe in all this auto immune stuff, did agree to do some blood tests and told me to see my regular DR in the same practice, next week (talk about closing ranks)

All I wanted to do was have another DR listen to all my symptoms and give me a second opinion, or at least reassure me that I'm not going of my head and imagining it all

Anyway practice nurse took my bloods for muscle pains/arthiritis, hormone levels and thyroid (as I'm extremely tired, not sleeping very well, achy, depressed.) even my asthma's started to play up and I havnt suffered from this for months and months (mine is stressed induced - is there any wonder)

Due back to work on Monday, not really wanting to go but need to get back into a routine.

I have been doing so well up until this past week and now I'm feeling really low
