post op 2 weeks and scared there is still cancer

Hi everyone I had my op. on 28th August for CIN 3 or carcinoma in situ is another term for it  . My doctor has told me not to panic but the pathology tests came back saying that they can't be certain that all bad cells have been removed due to tearing of cervical tissue during operation. I have to have another pap done in 3 months and even though my doctor is positive about the op. I just can't seem to shake this fear of returning bad cells. I am trying to be positive but it is so hard sometimes when I have been through the op and I'm still not 100% certain that it is ok
please help me get rid of this fear

On situ is good, it means it was self-contained and not
spreading to surrounding tissues. Even though the tissue tore, they are very careful to remove surrounding tissue
as well, just to make sure. Its normal to have this fear,
but try to keep positive and believe its all gone-your
faith has alot to do with healing. If you can't get past
it, call your doctor and let him know-he may have more info
that could reassure.

What you are feeling is perfectly normal! We all wonder if we will hear those dreaded words again, and we all worry to a certain extent. I will tell you that I do believe that it gets better with time. We just need to be extra sure that we keep up on our paps and take good care of ourselves! If you are questioning the tearing that occured during surgery, then you really should speak to your doctor. He is the one that was there and can tell you anything that you need to know. Have you requested your medical files with the pathology results from the hospital? You may want to do that too so that you can read what means were taken to avoid any left cells. All you have to do is to call the Medical Records Dept of the hospital in which you were operated on in. Tell them that you want a copy of your file and they will need you to come in and sign for it...it's that simple! Best of luck to you, and please don't worry yourself....put your thoughts into taking care of yourself!!

Robyn,
Time will help to lessen your worry and fear...at least it did for me. But I must admit, it wasn't until I had a CT scan nearly a year after surgery that came back clear that I truly believed the alien was gone. Ask your doctor to clarify things for you - and don't be too hard on yourself for feeling anxious and worried - we all do! I've always been a person who sees a glass as half full, not half empty...and I've been able to stay pretty positive throughout my odyssey. There are moments, though - but they pass. Keep in touch here - and we'll help you get through this. Visit whenever you need a little pep talk!
