No overnight castle stay for me!
Hi Girls!
I just had my pre-op this morning and my dr told me my surgery was scheduled for 12:45pm on Friday and if i wanted to I could go home at 9:00pm that night??????? What do you all think, if I feel well enough should I just come home or not chance it and stay until Saturday?
I had blood taken and that was it. No EKG, no x-ray, no nothin!
She did tell me I couldn't do anything for 8 weeks i could drive in 1 week and i would be started on estridiol in the hospital. That about covers my pre-op, seems different than alot of other posts i've read. :confuse:
Anyways she loved my question sheet, I printed off of here, I told her about the site and she wants a flyer for her office.
Thank you all so much for your support, I'm sure I'll be calling on you all as time gets closer.
Take care,

No overnight castle stay for me!
((((Kari))))),
The ultimate decision is yours to make. I think since it will already be 9 P.M., I would just go ahead and spend the night. Get up the next a.m. early and go home then.
Best wishes ,

I agree with Pamcat
Kari,
I agree with Pamcat. It will already be late. And since you will already be there, it may be good to stay so they can monitor you through the night, to make sure you will be O.K. because you know in the middle of the night, is when fevers start to rise, a lot of times. But it's your decision, do what you will feel comfortable with. Good luck, and much prayers

I would stay also- it is major surgery and although you wouldn't have all the comforts of home, there will be around to monitor you through the night.

No overnight castle stay for me!
Hi Kari:
I got to agree, just spend the night. My pre-op was yesterday. I was told overnight for sure possibly 2.
My Dr. said my ovaries have gotten so large he won't know till he's there if they can be removed LAVH and may have to do a laparotomy. I sure hope not.
Best wishes, sister!

No overnight castle stay for me!
Please try to stay the night. I had a LAVH/BSO on Friday and went home Saturday. My worst pain was actually Saturday after I went home. I would stay if you can.

I'm in agreement with the other ladies here. Stay the night if you can. I had a LAVH/BSO on Monday, June 16 and no way was I ready to go home that night.

No overnight castle stay for me!
I cant believe this. Is this all down to insurance? My first night was horrific and I certainly wouldnt have coped at home. I really feel sorry for some of the princesses that are rushed from the hospital. After major surgery you need major nursing care. think about it carefully and please tell them if you do not feel ready to go home.

No overnight castle stay for me!
Yep.. put me in for another 'stay the night'!
After my TVH (no lap).. I felt rough.. a bit groggy, very sleepy for the first day. The first day was the worst out of my entire recovery so far. I also had a terrible allergic reaction which would have sent me to the hospital if I had not already been there! The next morning I felt so much better. I was grateful for the one night I did stay in the castle and I was able to get the 'good' pain meds too which kept things in check. I am almost willing to bet you will not feel like going home at 9. Of course its your decision, but I would consider it carefully
My instructions were much different than what I have read here too. I went home with Motrin 800 for pain- nothing heavy. I could drive day 2 post op if I wanted. My doctor said "you can drive as soon as you feel up to it" I didnt though, until post op day 9. I was told not to lift, strain, push or pull for 6 weeks. Tub baths at 2 weeks. But other than that I can do whatever I like as long as I listen to my body, rest often, and be smart about things.
Good luck on your decision. We all recover differently and you can simply decide based on how you feel. I have had one of the smoothest recoveries and I would stay the night simply because I remember how I felt!!
Just my opinion of course! s

Wow
Thank you all for your quick responses. I know my answer now....I'm definitely staying the night! It makes much more sense. The dr gave me the choice so I might as well take the one night. I know I won't feel like leaving and even if I do I like the comfort of having the nurses there the 1st night.
Thank you all sooooo much
