Need some input please....

Dear Sisters:
I am 13 days away from my TAH/BSO, not really scared, just tired of being sick and want it over with. I'm ready to get healthy again.
The problem I'm dealing with now is that three days this week I worked 14 hours a day trying to get more work done, then wham, I've been in bed for two days. I feel like I have the flu, and I am running a low grade fever, have for three weeks. I coundn't donate my own blood because of this, but some dear friends did.
My dr. called yesterday to set my time for pre op which is on the 8th, I told her I was so nausua's and that my uterus actually feels like it's contracting. Her response: well, it will all be over in a week. I asked her if she would operate with a temp, she said yes.
I have not felt nausuas at all until yesterday throughout this whole illness. I have mulitple fibroids and cysts on both ovaries.
I feel so guilty for taking time off now, because I will have time off for the recovery. I tried to get dressed for work ( I have pushed myself for such a long time) and my son came in and said "Mom, just get back in bed".
I'm not having any pain other than my uterus, but I do feel like I have the flu. Has anyone experienced this? and if so, what do you do when there is so much to get done. And these tears will just not stop, they continue to just roll down my face.
Someone please help.
Much Love,
Michelle

I don't know if this is what is the culprit in your situation, but from your description, it could be an ovarian cyst that ruptured. When mine rupture, I felt a tearing or release at the ovary and then my abdomen swelled up hugely. This caused much pressure pain and nausea and vomiting and a low-grade fever. It feels exactly like the flu. Every joint and bone and muscle in your body hurts. I descibed the feeling of my abdomen like being post-operative laparascope. I couldn't take any jostling, walking had to be done very softly, couldn't lift a thing. My stomach and gallbladder swelled from not being able to eat and there is so much pain. I couldn't stop crying either.

This happened to me also after two big days at work. Cysts can rupture from over doing it. I've found that with ruptured cysts, taking 1/2 a pain pill, some ibuprofen and an anti-emetic (anti-nausea) I could get most things done. Rest when you can and get plenty of fluids.

Like I said, I don't know if this is what is happening with you or not; just my experience with similar symptoms. I hope for the best for you. Good luck with your hyst, mine isn't until 8-5-03. I hope we are both on the pain-free side soon!

Take care,
Merissa

(((((Michelle)))))))),

I am sorry that you are feeling so bad hon.

I am going to let you in on some things I learned post op while being a GOOD PRINCESS. While I rested and let my body heal properly,I learned the following, reluctantly for sure, but learned.

1. The house will not cave in from the weight of dust. Bet you thought it would too!!!

2. Other people can run the very complicated vacuum. Amazing as it seems they can plug it in ,turn it on ,then push. Huh, who knew?

3.If food runs out, they will go to a grocery store and get some more!!!!!!!!!

4.Even a dh, child etc. , if told exactly how, can cook ,do laundry, sweep , mop, the affore mentioned vacuuming, even scrub a toilet !!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. I am still looking ,but I have yet to meet, a lady who had to attend her dh's(or bf or s/o) funeral ,cause of death waiting for intercourse.

So you see the ONLY THING YOU MUST DO is take care of your health so you can enjoy the rest(best) of your life. And after a year or so you can do the housework again !!!!!!!!!

Best wishes,

Pamcat

Your surgery date is the same as mine, so I understand what you are currently going through. I have had that sick feeling, and discovered it was nerves. I didn't think I was too bothered by everything, and I am excited to get it all over with, but I have the tendency to internalize everything, and my feeling sick to my stomach is the first sign that maybe the stress is getting to me. Aslo, you have been pushing yourself so hard at your job, which can make you feel wiped out all by itself, add the stress of surgery and a possible bug, you are bound to feel a little overwhelmed and your body just wants to rest! Also, with the pain in your uterus, maybe you're focusing on it since it will be leaving you soon. Or perhaps its getting ready for one more visit from Aunt Flo? I am sorry I can't be of more help, but I am here to talk to if you need me, feel free to PM or email me. The tears are part of the anxiety, I'm sending you a big cyber HUG. It will all get better, you will make it, if everything doesn't get done before surgery it will be all right! Rest and take care of yourself!

Michelle,

First off, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. I agree with some of the other posts that the anxiety you're feeling could be the reason your nauseous, or it could actually be from the pain you're feeling from you uterus. Don't discount the fact that you're probably overworked, underfed and totally riding the hormone roller-coaster - any one of those things would put most people off, and you've got all three, plus you're dealing with a lot of pain right now as well. Hopefully it will get better.

I also wanted to congratulate you on the excellent job you did raising your son! Any kid who can look at you and tell you to "get back in bed" is wonderful. You did a great job raising someone who is thoughtful, caring and sympathetic. You should be very proud. Someone is going to be very lucky to have him. Take his advice, get back in bed, and take care of yourself. You don't want to go into this surgery completely run down and sick, it will just be that much harder to get better. You're not Superwoman, so quit acting like you are and take your son's advice - get some rest. It sounds like you deserve it.

Good luck,
Meg
