4wks post op- running 100.6 fever and bad gas

Hello, sisters. I seem to be getting worse, rather than better. I had everything out except cervix (Dr. didn't want to take it due to infection) June 3. I have my four week check up tomorrow afternoon, however I tried to get in today but he said to wait. What was supposed to be an ovarian cyst turned out to be a huge abscess involving everything, including adhesions everywhere. I had Cipro and Flagyl iv. in hospital, and a few days of Cipro at home. Dr. said it would take time for my intestines to calm down, so I have put up with the terrible gas pains...My incision looks okay for a huge monster incision (vertically). and my only pain is from the gas. I have been taking stool softeners and ibuprofen. Last week, I had a bout of diarrhea one day only, and have had worse gas ever since. Now, I am running a fever each afternoon and evening (past 3 days). I know I will see the Dr. tomorrow, but I thought someone out there might have had the same problem?

Thanks,
Susan

Hi Susan,

I had a low grade temp for a few weeks after the surgery. I asked my dr. about it and he said sometimes patients will react to surgery by getting a low grade temp until the body adjusts. However, since you said the dr. left in the cervix because it was infected, could this possibly be causing the elevated temp? I would ask the dr. to check you out again if the temp continues. If it is an infection you don't want to wait too long. Let me know how it goes, hope you feel better. s

Marta
