suture rejection

Hi everybody, first timer here. I thought I was going to be the miracle patient, was on my feet the day after surgery taking myself to the bathroom and charting my output to save the nurses time since I had been guzzling water to clean out my system. That was after the initial trauma of foley removal and learning to go again after morphine. Two nights after I came home I had a fever of 102.6 and was put on antibiotics again for 1 week. Saw the Doc for my 7 day check up and, again I thought I was on the road to recovery. Two nights after my antibiotics were finished, my incision turned puffy, hot and looked really bruised all of a sudden. Also had stinging stabbing pains and had a mild fever. Went back to the doctor today and he says I am rejecting my sutures. Anyone ever hear of that one. He put me back on antibiotics for 10 more days just in case it is infection and told me to use hot compresses. That sounded painful since I couldn't even stand to have him gently touch my incision, but it actually feels pretty good. He said if it doesn't get better, he will have to drain it. AHHHHHHHHH! that sounds painful. Wish me luck in healing myself. HOLY COW

suture rejection

Hello Colorado

My story is long, but I'll try to keep it short. I had a lap in Oct and my hyst in Nov. Everything out TAH/BSO. The problem was that I went back to work and my belly button acted up from the lap. It's been six months now since the button problem and I'm just now getting healed. I had to see a Dermatologist for another problem and she said to try this cream, diprolene on my button too. Wah Lah! It's a miracle! She thought maybe a suture in my button didn't dissolve like it should. I always thought that but my gyn said no. I love him dearly, but he's not a skin dr. The sutures from my hyst inside and out healed fine though. Just thought I'd put my two cents in. Beth

suture rejection

Thanks for your replies everyone. My surgery was 6-17-03, I'm not sure why that didn't get recorded. Anyway what concerns me is the fact that I have sutures all over my insides. They took everything including my appendix due to severe endometriosis, which I didn't even know I had till I went for my annual pelvic and the doc said my ovary felt weird. After an ultrasound they said it was the size of a fist. HMMMM no pain I guess it's a good thing to have annual exams. Anyway it's all supposed to dissolve, they won't be removing anything. This was my first real ezperience with hospitals, doctors and the like. I always knew that I would be a candidate for "side effects" you know the commercials for drugs that relieve one symtom but give you 100 others. That would be me, just from experience with birth control pills, antibiotics and even alcohol. I'm such a lightweight it's ridiculous. And to think that I was worried about the anesthesia. I had no problem with that. RAMBLE RAMBLE.... thanks for listening.
