LOOKING FOR Info.

First let me say that I read this site everyday before my surgery and after. I found a lot of helpful hints and information. My surgery was shock and was scheduled 5 days after my doctors visit. My bladder was completely out and the uterus behind it. I went to the doctor last Thursday for my 6week check-up and he told me I had developed a Rectocyle. I knew somthing was wrong as I felt parts where they should not have been. He said this was a quick fix but having a class reunion and a wedding in the next 6 weeks I am going to wait until after. I did not mean to be so long winded but could someone give me an insight as to how they do a Rectocyle repair.

This website explains it somewhat....hope it helps. BTW, your post prompted me to investigate what a rectocele is and in reading about it I realize that I probably have one and didn't know it. Thanks to your post I can ask my doctor about it when I see her on Monday.

I had a rectocele repair when I had my hyter. at the end of May. I went into the dr. for my 6 week check up today and she said the repair is taking some time to heal. She said my muscles are not relaxed enough and she has referred me to a physical therapist. Go firgure, I didn't know you could get PT "down there". I can only imagine that it is going to hurt because it's sore now.

Rectocele is a 'quick fix' for the Dr. But for you it will be another 4-6 of doing nothing. I found that the rectocele repair that I had done was the most painful part of my recovvery. I do not know how bad yours is - mine was haning outside of my vagina by the time of surgery - so your repair might not be as extensive as mine was? But on a good note - while doing the repair, Dr. tightened up the vagina and now is back to pre-childbirth size and VERY NICE....

Sex might be a little tricky after, we've had to use KY most of the time, because of the new tightness.

You can also go to http://www.pelvicfloor.com and see pictures of it there.

Thank-You for your replys. I guess best case would have been if when he did the TAH, repaired the cystocele, and other work to the bladder/urinary track if this had been there it could have been fixed all at once. My thoughts are from reading the helpful sites you referred me to is if this can be fixed without another abdominal cut. A question only my doctor can answer. Right now the rectocyle is at times level with the opening but not fully out like the bladder. I did promise him if it got like the other I would not wait. I just do not know if I could go thorogh all that again so soon. I am still not back to work from the 5-16-03 surgery. Maybe I am being childish because I could be in a lot worse of a situation.

as far as I know rectocele repair is only done vaginally, no abdominal cut is made. this repair is to repair the wall between vagina and rectum that has weakened.
