Rectocele Repair
I can't believe I never even asked the doctor about this. I must have been in shock or something. How exactly do they fix a rectocele? I've been trying to find information online to hold me over until I talk to the gyn again, but not much I can find on actual repair procedures. Also, what about bowel movements afterwards? Ummmmmm, won't that hurt? Will I be on a liquid diet for a bit afterwards? I know I need to ask my doctor, but curiousity is really getting to me! I know you understand!
Thanks!

Rectocele Repair
rectocele is a weak spot in between your rectal vault and vaginal vault, to repair it it is mostly like an episiotomy, it is excised and restitched and isnt too bad , my md suggested lining up 3-4 tucks on a pad to take down any swelling , but ask your before any of that...........hope it helps

Thanks.
I was wondering if that's how it was done! Tucks worked great for the episiotomy (along with ice filled pads the castle provided). Now if I can just get over the fear of pooping after the repair. HEHEHEHE!

Rectocele Repair
Hi Robin,
I also had a rectocele repaired at the same time as my hyst, and, in my case, I felt more discomfort from that than from the actual hyst.
You'll probably want to buy a "donut" pillow to sit on to help keep pressure off of that area. I even took mine to work with me for a couple of weeks when I returned at 5 1/2 weeks post-op.
I would suggest having one to sit on in the car coming home from the castle. I didn't, and it would have been nice.
I used Tucks, like asmith1 mentioned, but you might want to ask your doctor about a Peri bottle, or a numbing spray.
Be sure to ask him about taking senecot or some other mild stool softener - pain meds can be constipating, and you want to avoid that, if at all possible.
I wish you the very best. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
