Emergency Hysterectomy

Has anyone else had to cope with an emergency hysterectomy a couple of weeks post child bith due to excessive bleeding. I am finding it hard to cope with both the trama of blood lost and op and new baby. Hysterectomy was needed to my save life. I have found it hard to discuss as noboby seems to have similar story.

Emergency Hysterectomy

Oh so sorry you had such a complication with the birth of your baby. Hope everything is okay now. Sorry about the hyst. at such a young age.

I didn't have that happen to me with the birth of my children although the second child was a premie and very sick and transfered to a different hospital and that was hard....

My mom had to have an emergency hyst. with me....saved her life too.

Hang in there. All I can offer to you is a big (((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))

Enjoy your baby....they grow up so fast.

Best Wishes,
Renee

Emergency Hysterectomy

Hi,

I was not able to have children but did have an emergency hyst to save life. I personally think that makes a big difference in a persons way of thinking. We had no choice so I don't spend precious valuable time wondering if the hyst has improved my life or magically made my aches & pains go away. I would flat out be dead without the surgery. You have so much to deal with & even a healthy new mother would be feeling the strain. Give yourself time. You are alive & will be able to watch your baby grow. We have a saying on another site I am on to take things 5 minutes at a time. Our goal is to get stronger & healthier with every minute. Don't hesitate to ask for help because you have a lot on your plate! Don't waste your strength on longing for the past. It is gone & each day brings you another day of life a day you would not have without the hyst. Also don't waste time wondering why this has happened to you! No one can answer that but you need all your strength for the positive. It is hard to believe now but you will get better & a positive mental outlook is vital in order for that to happen. When someone asks me how I feel if I think about it long enough I can certainly give them a list of ailments. Bottom line for me is that I feel better then I did before my hyst & I hope that you will too after you heal.

Good luck & congratulations on that new baby!

Emergency Hysterectomy

Here's a for you. I don't have first hand experience of your situation (was never pregnant) but I read your post and wanted to offer support.

You may want to post on the aching hearts board here at hyster sisters- I know there are other sisters here that share your situation.

Hold and love that new baby to pieces, they grow so fast!

Best wishes

Emergency Hysterectomy

Congratulations on the new baby! It's ok for you to feel sad too because you had sudden surgery, but you are alive and well and have a beautiful baby to raise and enjoy. Take it easy. I know you probably won't find enough people right off to compare notes with, but I certainly send you my good wishes. Love life, embrace life, and thank the Creator for every day.

It's perfectly normal for you to need time to recover and hope you have a good family support system. Just concentrate on getting you better and lovin' that baby and then turn baby over to dad or family for extra snugglin' while you rest up and get ready for your new life as Mommy.

sorry

I don't have the same experience as you, but mine was emergency too. A fibroid was bleeding excessively. It is hard, I know, to deal with the loss. Your hormones are probably all over the place right now. Be very gentle with yourself. Surround yourself with supportive people if you can. Give yourself time to heal. Try not to put guilt on yourself for not feeling good. You have been through a lot and it will take some time to heal.
Take care, Karen
