Tuesday July 8th

Hi everyone. No I am not lost

My home is a revolving restaurant and hotel at this time. All my relatives are here. Food has been bad and to many I love the South Beach Diet. Kind of what I want to do. I will definitly check into it after we are home from the cottage. Lower fat and carbs makes way more sense to me. I will have to do something as I have put on some being off weight.

Today is my surgery is it is 5:50 am. I thought I would pop in and start the thread and say hellllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooo. It is the only time to myself at this point. My neighbour is taking me in as she works there. Hubby will pick me up between 12 and 1. WOW in and out or what.

The weather has been fabulous here except for yesterday. OF course as I had a house full. Rained tons but we needed it.

Hello to all you new ladies.

Hello to all my old friends.

Take care

Talk to you soon

Katie

Cool - Tuesday July 8th Good Morning

Food choices could have been lots better yesterday. Had way too much junk and am feeling the effects today of my food hangover! So I'll be pushing the H2O today!!!

With all this talk about the South Beach Diet, I think I will look at that a little better. IF I decide to try it I think I will wait until we get back from Michigan though. Might be tough to be in first phase of that during vacation!

(((Katie)))~ I am sure your surgery will go just fine!!! I bet you'll be right back to entertaining at one of your parties in no time at all!!

EM~ Congratulations on the 6.5 lb loss...that it so awesome!!!!

Happy belated birthday to BSQ's DSW, hope he got home intime to celebrate at least a little!

To the new girls~ Welcome to the BEST group.....I am so glad you found us! Try to hang around as much as you can...this is a great place to keep you motivated!

Hi, to everyone else..... Hope we all have the BEST kind of day!!!!

Take Care, Dawn

Tuesday July 8th

Good luck today, Katie! It will go well.

I dug out my ankle weights last night (3 pounders that my DH hid after my last "repair job") and went for a nice walk after the storms came thru and cooled off the air. I walked two miles with the weights on my ankles, then switched them to my wrists for the return trip. I'm hoping that since its under my ten pound restriction and it shouldn't be much different than walking with a few extra pounds on my body that nothing will be any worse for the wear. I could certainly feel the impact on my legs, but didn't really notice anything with my arms.

I definitely need to be drinking more water, but food has been ok.

I'm just not sure about the Michigan "summer camp" at this point - 8 hour drive and we're still trying to get my mom settled in and settled down with hospice and its not going too well. I'm averaging 4 calls a day between questions of "what should I do" and trying to counsel my dad who thinks every minute will be her last. She's definitely stoned out of her mind and is getting everything confused, so a get together just may not work at this time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping.

Have a great day

Tuesday July 8th

Hi all --

Getting ready to head to the gym shortly. Treadmill followed by yoga today.

Nel -- I can surely understand with all you have going on, if you can't make it to BEST summer camp. Don't know if I'd be able to leave under your circumstances either but boy if you can get away it sure sounds like the time away would do you some good........but only if you could relax and not be worrying about things back home. If you can make it, we'd love to see you there but if not you will most certainly be in our thoughts. My heart goes out to you with your mom's situation. 's

Dawn -- I have been reading up on the South Beach diet and I like the idea of it a lot. It is a lot along the idea of what I do, so it really wouldn't be that big a change for me. I need to go over it again though because I can never remember what foods you're supposed to avoid and what foods are ok to eat. Since I'm pretty much down to my goal weight I wonder what would happen if I skipped the first two weeks of the plan and went right into the mainenance thing? I like the idea of combining the lowfat deal I've been doing with the lowcarb thing.......I've always consumed too many carbs anyway. I'll check it out some more.

Katie -- will be thinking about you today and have my fingers crossed that your surgery goes well, no problems and a quick and healthy recovery. Please let us know how you are doing when you can. 's to you too..........

have a good day everybody I'll be back later--

Ann

Love & Hugs to you, Katie!!!! By the time you read this, you will be resting at home and the surgery will be history!! I know your sweet chickadees & your dh will take good care of you, the more difficult part will be getting you to take care of yourself! Stay down! Let someone else fetch & carry.
Katie, you're on your way to being the 6 Million Dollar Woman! Wooo hoooo! Katie, the Bionic Woman. BW for short.

Nel, I am so sorry about your Mom and all that is happening there. Prayers go out to you and your Mom & Dad and all the family. You are so smart & strong to continue your exercise when you must feel pretty drained. It is SO the right thing to do, but not always easily done. Good for you, Lisa.

Hello to all our new BEST sisters! So glad you're here, you will find the BEST support out there!!!

Dawn, I think the SB Diet is pretty good. I was way off over the weekend in some ways, but still on in others. for instance, I still have not had a Coke! I can't believe it myself. No real pop, splenda in my coffee...for me, this seems doable. I ordered the book & will try to remember to bring it to MI. You can check it out there if you like what you learn beforehand.
The Prevention site does have a list of foods to avoid & foods that are ok. I printed it off & that's helpful. Worth a try?

My back is wacky again! BIL brought his motor boat w/tube & a jet ski up from Florida for the weekend so we could play. Could I have hurt myself tubing on Saturday?
I was a little bit afraid to do it for that reason. I'd done it before & loved it but I thought it might hurt my back. Lots of impact...
Well, I went ahead & it seemed fine.
Yesterday morning, however, I woke up all sore & with muscles tighter than dh's wallet!

Yikes! I'm going to try very hard to get this all worked out & fast! We'll see.
Getting old sure beats the alternative, but sheesh, sometimes I'm a little impatient about it all!

Ann, you guru you, maybe you'll teach us some yoga stretches????????

Hope you all have the BEST Tuesday! Lots of water for us all!

Thanks for being there, ladies. I really appreciate you all.

I am back

WOW today went fast. I was at the hospital for 6:30 which was a joke as they did not need me there that early . Surgery at 8 it took 45 mins. Then I could have left the hospital by 11:15. But hubby was told to be there for noon so that is when we left. I had a nice afternoon with my relatives a 2 hour nap and here I am . I wanted to go to dds soccer game but my mom and hubby would not let me Hubby told me one night of rest would do me good. BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But he won I ate like a horse today. So I am not OP at all. Oh well. But I have that awful taste in my mouth from the anestesia. YUCKY. So carbs is what takes it away .

Thanks for all the well wishes. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Ann for the card very cute. Miss xena sends me cards lot to they really can make someones day.

Xena sorry about your back. I hope it gets better soon.

Ann I am so jealous about you working out. I wont be able to do that for a couple of weeks. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Nel the weights should help. Just be careful with the ankle ones. They can strain your body.

Dawn I will check out the South Beach diet to. It sounds like what I think is healthy. A little like SBusters but less carbs.

Okay I am off

Take care

Katie

Tuesday July 8th

Hi all,

Katie--What a delight and surprise to see you home so quickly and in such good spirits!! Healing s to you!

Xena--No coke and tubing--you're full of surprises good for you! The South Beach diet must really work if you didn't want your coke .

Ann--I hope you had a good day at the gym. I skimmed the SB diet last night, but want to look at it some more. My doctor told me this weight will come off naturally over time, but I am not sure I will be satisfied with that. As long as the SB diet has no gluten or I do it with GF foods, and I take my vitamins and supplements, I don't see any problem. Of course, I will check with my doctor beforehand. Supposed to see her on the 18th, but that might change (if possible) for the BEST sisters weekend.

Lisa--You are really doing great with exercise. I am so sorry about the situation with your mom. s

Dawn--Love your positive sunny attitude! Hope you had a great day!

Will try to check in later.

Love,
Shirley

Tuesday July 8th

Good afternoon:

I am slow getting things done today. It was my last half day at work. I go in for my six week post-op appt. tomorrow and will then be back at work full time. However, as my work tends to do, it kept me there longer than half a day. So, by the time I got home at nearly 2pm, I was starving...ate breakfast at 7:30am. Starving is not good...I ate a handful of tortilla chips while waiting for my vegies to heat up in the microwave...bad. However, the vegies are good (ratatouille - eggplant, zucchini, onions, garlic, red and yellow peppers).

About belly dancing:
BSQ - I started 2 years ago with a beginning tape. But that got old and I started taking private lessons. Then, when I got to the point where I needed more variety, I started taking classes and workshops. I have even danced (once - very scarey) for an audience. I love it. Very feminine, very spiritual...and DBFs and DHs love it
Desk - sorry, I am not sure who that instructor is. Both of mine are under 40 and have dark hair.

Katie - you got back before I could say good luck. Hope you are healing already.

Xena - hope that back mends quickly. I think back and rib pain are the worst.

Ann, Nel, Dawn - Hi hope you are having or had a great day.

Thanks for the welcome. I am glad to have found this part of the site.

Hi Noelle--You popped in while I was still surfing ! For someone who was starving, you did very well! Hope your checkup goes well. Are you ready to go full time? If you have any issues still, such as fatigue or whatever, discuss them with your doctor, often they will extend your part-time period a little if there is justification. Hope there's not, but just wanted to mention that. s

Shirley
